This is interesting. I’ve been looking at this stuff lately to decipher some of the season-to-season changes in DRS for players. To properly compare the defensive skillsets of players, opportunity differences need to addressed, just prorating DRS to innings is not enough.

Hunter Strickland is ruining baseball for everyone.

Well, everybody but Hunter Strickland.
Adam Dunn didn’t invent this approach. It wasn’t a good approach. I followed Dunn throughout his career. Dunn could have been a better hitter if he was more aggressive within the strikezone. I witnessed countless at bats where Dunn passed up a perfectly good pitch and ended up either taking a called strike or whiffed on a worse pitch later in the at bat. Dunn’s method sucked.
The Series turns to San Francisco in Game 3. The Royals send Jeremy Guthrie, the Giants send Tim Hudson. 8 PM. FOX.

The Freak is feeling better.

I was wondering when we’d see The Freak. I guess that’s all we are going to get.
Not many surprises, but Yoenis Cespedes?
A game can go badly pretty quickly. Last night I was watching the game. With the score tied 2-2 the game channel went out on my television.(There was a power outage at the local affiliate.) By the time the picture came back on, the score was 7-2.
We don’t know what will happen in game 3. The Giants could jump out to a 10-run lead in the first. You close out the wins in World Series games as best you can. Herrera just had six days rest. He has another day off today. Using your three best ...Read More...
