The Gist: Everybody Hates Joe Buck (audio, begins at 14.43)

So, blessed with a bit of nepotism, a set of good pipes, a fine jawline, and the sort of seriousness of purpose that says, ‘Sport is of import’, Joe Buck has been tapped to be the lead Fox announcer for both baseball and the NFL. Joe Buck had his own HBO show where they tried to capitalize on his Midwestern everyman charm. Joe Buck starred in a line of Holiday Inn commercials trading on his everyman appeal. . .

Joe Buck’s a regular guy, a good sport, he’s approachable, but here’s the thing that complicates that assessment: everybody hates Joe Buck.

ESPN Takes Schilling Off LLWS Broadcast After Anti-Muslim Tweet

Schilling retweeted a post that said, ‘‘Only 5-10% of Muslims are extremists. In 1940, only 7% of Germans were Nazis. How’d that go?’’ The post was soon removed from his Twitter feed.

Only 5-10% of Curt Schilling’s tweets are racist. How’d that go, Curt?
