Diamondbacks’ Adam Jones has Petco Park fan ejected for vulgar language

SAN DIEGO — Diamondbacks right fielder Adam Jones said a fan in right field at Petco Park was berating him with profane language on Wednesday, and he spoke with ballpark security to have the fan removed from the game.

Jones has had past incidents with fans spewing racial insults – notably at Fenway Park in 2017 – but he said this did not rise to that level.

“These fans in sports, man, they’re starting to get a little more brazen,” Jones said. “I’ve said it many times, and obviously I’ve had altercations with fans. My biggest thing is, keep the banter polite – we suck, I struck out, the team’s not good. Keep it light, keep it smart. There’s kids in the stadium. But the second you start cussing me out like I’m a little kid, that’s a no-no.

We know the real crisis has begun when the fans start making up new lyrics to “Tessie” again.

Angel Hernandez seriously ejected Astros manager A.J. Hinch in a spring training game

The baseball season hasn’t even started yet, and Angel Hernandez is already trending for the wrong reasons.

Hernandez, the home plate umpire during a spring training game on Friday between the Astros and Cardinals, tossed Astros manager A.J. Hinch one pitch into the bottom of the first inning.

Hinch grew irritated after a 1-2 pitch by Astros starter Forrest Whitley to the Cardinals’ Harrison Bader in the top of the first was called a ball. Bader later reached on an error.

So, how long before one or the other starts beating up marshmallow salesmen in their spare time?

Yankees pay Sabathia’s $500K bonus despite ejection in finale

CC Sabathia gave up half a million dollars to show he had his teammate’s back. Instead, the New York Yankees paid their veteran left-hander for his loyalty.

The 38-year-old pitcher was two innings from receiving a $500,000 for pitching 155 innings last season when he was ejected for throwing at the Tampa Bay Rays’ Jesus Sucre in the sixth inning of Sabathia’s final outing of the season. Rather than pitch out of the bullpen to get his bonus, Sabathia stayed at 153 innings.

A review of the Yankees’ final luxury tax payroll for the season revealed the Yankees paid Sabathia the $500,000 bonus, multiple outlets reported Monday.

Would that I could do something like that and get so much money for it.
