Blue Jays reportedly fire coaches Brook Jacoby and Tim Leiper

The Toronto Blue Jays may have found their manager, but the coach shuffling continues.

Hitting coach Brook Jacoby and first base coach Tim Leiper have been fired, Blue Jays general manager Ross Atkins told The Athletic’s John Lott on Saturday.

Jacoby, 58, had been with Toronto since the 2015 season when the team reached the American League Championship Series for the first time 1993. The Blue Jays led the majors in runs that season as Josh Donaldson won the American League Most Valuable Player. In 2016, the Blue Jays fell to ninth in the majors in runs but made it to the ALCS again before losing to the Cleveland Indians.

Mind you, with a new manager in place, isn’t that to be expected?

Chili Davis Reportedly Fired as Cubs Hitting Coach After 1 Season

The Chicago Cubs fired hitting coach Chili Davis after one season, according to Bruce Levine of WSCR-AM.

Davis, 58, was a three-time All-Star and three-time World Series champion during his playing career for the San Francisco Giants (1981-87), California Angels (1998-90, 1993-96), Minnesota Twins (1991-92), Kansas City Royals (1997) and New York Yankees (1998-99).

He hit .274 in his career with 350 home runs and 1,372 RBI.

So, who do they blame if the same thing happens next year?

Broadcasters Rod Allen, Mario Impemba won’t return to Detroit Tigers

As expected, the Detroit Tigers will have a new television broadcast team next season.

After a late-season falling out escalated to a physical altercation on Sept. 4, longtime Fox Sports Detroit broadcasters Rod Allen and Mario Impemba will not return next season, according to multiple persons with knowledge of the situation.

The end of their lengthy run is not surprising: Both Allen and Impemba did not appear on the air for the remainder of the season after the incident.

Should we all come to Detroit and audition for these positions as a group?

Paul Molitor fired as Twins manager

It wasn’t the 78-84 record, and it wasn’t missing the playoffs. It wasn’t implementing all the new analytics, and it wasn’t his knowledge of the game. It certainly wasn’t a personal conflict, because everyone involved testified at length about what a tremendous human being Paul Molitor is.

Derek Falvey and Thad Levine on Tuesday fired Molitor, the manager whom they inherited when taking over the team two autumns ago, and in doing so, recited a list of factors they said played no part in their decision. Their actual reasons for replacing him after four seasons in the dugout, however, were considerably more vague.

“It was about where our club is for the present and the future. This wasn’t about our record this year,” said Falvey, the Twins’ chief baseball officer, in an afternoon news conference at Target Field. “We just feel a change in voice and potential style with some of these younger players could be of benefit to us.”

Should I send in an application for this position?
