Toledo News-Bee, February 4, 1913: Jim Baskette, the big right-hander of Cleveland’s 1913 string…was seriously stabbed in the face at his winter home at Athens, Tenn., the other night. He will probably recover in two weeks without complications.
Wait, so if the wound is serious, how do we know he’ll be fine in two weeks? Unless the ‘seriously’ was meant more like “Dude, seriously. Baskette got shanked in the face.”
