John McGraw referring to Cardinals owner Helene Hathaway Britton, Pittsburgh Gazette-Times, January 8, 1913: “Any woman who attempts to dictate the policy of a baseball club is flirting with serious trouble,” said John J. McGraw of the New York Giants today…“Professional baseball is so complicated that it is difficult for anyone, much less a woman, to get the inns [sic] and outs of it and know the correct way to manage a club. It is bad enough for a man to be mixed up in this kind of work, for he is always in trouble, but it is no work for a woman.”
And can you believe women actually want to be allowed to vote? Ridiculous.
