With elbow ‘barking,’ Mets’ Jacob deGrom sent back to New York for MRI

Mets RHP Jacob deGrom is having his Saturday start pushed back because his elbow has been “barking” and will undergo an MRI, manager Mickey Callaway said before Friday’s game.

“DeGrom is going to be pushed back tomorrow, he’s not gonna pitch,” Callaway said. “He’s been under the weather, his elbow is a little barky. We’re gonna get him back to New York. Get him checked out, have an MRI, and go from there at this point.”

DeGrom had initially been pushed back from Friday to Saturday due to strep throat. As far as the elbow issue, Callaway said he first started feeling it Friday.

If enough of the Mets and Yankees get injured, while the teams have to merge for the rest of the season, and, if so, what name do they call themselves?

Yanks ace Severino returning to N.Y. for MRI

HOUSTON—Yankees ace Luis Severino will be returning to New York on Monday night from Tampa, Florida, to get an MRI and be reevaluated by head team physician Dr. Chris Ahmad, manager Aaron Boone said.

The MRI and other testing will be conducted Tuesday.

Severino, who was shut down at the beginning of March due to rotator cuff inflammation in his right shoulder, isn’t experiencing pain; but he isn’t where he wants to be, and the team wants an examination to determine why he isn’t progressing as expected, Boone said ahead of the Yankees’ series opener in Houston.

Will the last member of the Yankees in a position to play please turn the light off on the way out?

Report: Cardinals’ Ozuna to undergo MRI

St. Louis Cardinals outfielder Marcell Ozuna is scheduled to have an MRI on Thursday, a day after he was removed from the starting lineup with soreness in his right side, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported.

A Cardinals official said Ozuna is day-to-day with tightness in his rib area. He was removed from the starting lineup after batting practice prior to the game. The Post-Dispatch reported there is concern that Ozuna has a strained muscle in his rib area.

Mets’ infielder Jed Lowrie to have MRI of left knee

PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. (AP) — The New York Mets uttered that dreaded three-letter acronym for the first time in spring training, and it involved Jed Lowrie: MRI.

Starting a $20 million, two-year contract, the infielder noticed the back of his left knee started to hurt last weekend after he was running, an issue he never felt before. He will go for a scan on Thursday.

“It’s just one of those things we’ve got to get checked out,” the 34-year-old said Wednesday. “It started when I starting ramping things up and doing top-end speed stuff and batting practice. “I just kind of felt something in the back side of my knee.”

So, how long before the amputation takes place?
