After snow-out, Cubs head to balmy Miami

After having their home game postponed on Sunday due to snow, the Chicago Cubs are surely thrilled to travel to Miami for Monday night’s game at the Marlins.

The Cubs will be greeted by sunshine—likely—and a retractable roof in case of showers. There will also be, in all likelihood, a strong number of Cubs fans at Marlins Park, where small crowds are the norm.

Chicago should also benefit from a day of rest for its pitching arms, as the Cubs used six relievers in Saturday’s 6-5 loss to the Los Angeles Angels.

With regards to the second paragraph: I’ve seen the claim made that Broward County, in the 1960s and early 1970s, was heavily populated with migrants from the Chicago area (in contrast with the New York origins of migrants to Dade County at that time), so one would hope that the Cubs could call on support in the area.

Braves and Rockies snowed out in Colorado

Today’s scheduled game between the Braves and Rockies at Coors Field has been postponed due to a blizzard warning in Denver. It will be made up on August 26 when, presumably, there will be less of a chance of snow.

What, no moving the game to a neutral site?
