How JBJ Forced MLB, And Red Sox, To Take Another Look

While there are many levels to how the lefty hitter found himself on the August run that turned perception inside-out, it was his revelation that waiting around for good, better and best pitches wasn’t going to work for him anymore that he identifies as the biggest difference-maker.

For perhaps the first time in his baseball career, Bradley started prioritizing swinging at the first good pitch he would see. The results were noticeable. ... “I don’t care if it’s the first pitch of the game. If it’s there, I’m swinging,” Bradley explained.

He added, “I’ve tried to be too patient when I was at the plate. I let too many good things go by. I’ve learned a lot from that. The stuff is too good. They have multiple pitches they can throw for strikes. In the minors, they might not be able to repeat as well as the pitchers can up here.”

A JBJ optimism article is the perfect time to fire up the CFBPS. Jose, I’m counting on you to renoobulate!

Red Sox Spring Training Has Begun, And Complaints Are In Midseason Form Already

The linked Bradford article basically makes the point that Hanley Ramirez, after 1 day of spring training, hasn’t proven anything. It’s not like Bradford is throwing anyone under the bus, but he has very nicely lined up the bus riiiight next to Ramirez and opened the door for passengers to climb aboard.

Bradford is right that (a) Hanley hasn’t yet proven he can handle 1B and (b) he doesn’t get the benefit of the doubt. From where I sit, there is a huge amount of doubt.
