NY Times: St. Louis Cardinals Investigated by F.B.I. for Hacking Astros

WASHINGTON — The F.B.I. and Justice Department prosecutors are investigating front-office officials for the St. Louis Cardinals, one of the most successful teams in baseball over the past two decades, for hacking into the internal networks of a rival team to steal closely guarded information about player personnel.

Investigators have uncovered evidence that Cardinals officials broke into a network of the Houston Astros that housed special databases the team had built, according to law enforcement officials. Internal discussions about trades, proprietary statistics and scouting reports were compromised, the officials said.

MLB: Pirates stun Cardinals with first-ever 4-5-4 triple play in baseball history.

Here is a legitimate “you’ve never seen this before” play…because it has never, in the recorded history of Major League Baseball, happened before.

On the first pitch from Vance Worley, Yadier Molina ripped a line drive over second baseman Neil Walker’s head. Peralta and Heyward both expected the ball to clear Walker’s head, and thus took off.

But Walker leaped to snare the liner, and his throw to third baseman Jung Ho Kang doubled up Peralta. Heyward started back to second, but Kang’s toss to Walker easily tripled up Heyward.

The ol’ 4-5-4—Major League Baseball’s first.
