Toledo News-Bee, February 13, 1913:

[John McGraw:] “Watch Burnham was a National league umpire when I played with the Baltimore Orioles. We called him Watch because he gave every player who disputed his decisions one minute to get back into the game or go to the bench, and he always pulled out his watch to time them.
...
[One day Joe Kelley complained] and Burnham pulled the watch on him. Kelly [sic] knocked the timepiece to the ground, broke it and looked at Burnham, expecting to be fined heavily. But Burnham laughed at him.

Burnham had forgotten his own watch that day and borrowed the groundskeeper’s.”

He should have used this one. It’s shock protected.
