BUT, they aren't. And slides much worse than that happen 50 times a week in season. You guys need to get your noses out of the statscomputer thingy.
I don't think this is the rule. It's the way it's applied, but I don't think it's the rule. I think the rule only says something impeding the fielder.
The rule has almost never been enforced.

How the hell can a guy hold down every other infield position (poorly, but still), yet look so utterly inept at 1B?
But you HAVE to do it in game 6 of the World Series.
You win.
Completely different actions. A guy who can play 2b, SS, 3b should certainly be able to learn 1b but it takes time. You do things backwards.
So...put the batter-runner out, then bobble the ball???
So thanks a lot, Freese.
The new term is "Freesing".
The umps interpret this as having the ability to make contact versus having physical contact
Players in Japan, Cuba, and Korea must be watching this and saying "World" Series my ass.
This must be what it was like for Tigers fans in 2006.
You wouldn't do well in the "Klondike 5 seconds to glory" competition.
Hahaha, fair enough.
Still, playing first is hard and weird if you're not used to it. Especially if you're used to the middle IF.
Ex Lax to cardsfanboy
Let's not forget that Conrad equaled tonight's poor showing singlehandedly.
EDIT: nevermind
Named, of course, after David "Death By Flying Things" Freese.
If Tony had any balls, he would have called in Lynn to IBB Napoli. And then brought in Rzecpsynski to pitch to Murphy
I think there was a secret deal between MLB and the MLBPA to cancel the 94 series just to avoid such an embarrassing spectacle.
Napolis single and Youngs double are all I remember. I guess you can add Cruz' FO but I think he's pitched fine.
Sure, leave him in
Come on, three of the 10 batters he's faced have reached on errors, none of which have been hard-hit balls, he's struck out 2 and napoli's hit bounced off the chalk...
He does have balls.
Holland. Washington wants to end St. Louis tonight.
I read this in the voice of the Indians "Valbuena, Valbuena, Valbuena" television ranter. It made this inning feel a bit better.
Hey now! I was never an Expos fan, but I think it truly stinks that the strike killed their one and only chance to play in the post-season. MLB Network had a retrospective the other night that rubbed salt in that wound.
Of course, I'm hoping the Nationals will correct this situation no later than 2020.
Shh!!!, don't tell them.
