Slowest pitch in Baseball to reach catcher? 30 mph, thrown at 45-deg angle. Any slower and at any other angle hits the ground

Pretty sure that's what Jaime Moyer throws.

I think the original Total Recall sucked, as well.

Trying to think what the evolutionary benefit of that would be. Perhaps an unusually large number of triplets?

Some features of evolution are merely by-products. Awesome, delicious by-products.

Good thing they staked Strasburg to an 8-0 lead, the way he's been pitching the last few outings he needs the cushion.
   309. Crispix reaches boiling point with lackluster play Posted: July 10, 2012 at 09:30 PM (#4179336)
I did not envision Matt Kemp sounding like that.

Buck describes Robinson Cano as "one of baseball's more lively players".
   310. Hey - you and Tommy Lasorda...I hate Tommy Lasorda Posted: July 10, 2012 at 09:31 PM (#4179338)
The new Total Recall does in fact have a three-breasted woman.

Trying to think what the evolutionary benefit of that would be. Perhaps an unusually large number of triplets?

Or with three distinct taps, a number of unusually large triplets?
   311. Harveys Wallbangers Posted: July 10, 2012 at 09:31 PM (#4179339)
goshdarn defensive positioning goofing up the defensive metrics

Boy, that Matt Kemp really adds some valuable insight.
   314. Tulo's Fishy Mullet (mrams) Posted: July 10, 2012 at 09:32 PM (#4179342)
Can players leave the game and post here?

Stupid Neil Tyson, forgetting about about air resistance.
   316. JJ1986 Posted: July 10, 2012 at 09:32 PM (#4179344)
And Joe Buck has totally giving up caring by the 4th inning.

Popularity in the sex trade I would guess.
   318. Lassus Posted: July 10, 2012 at 09:32 PM (#4179346)
you hated the arnold total recall?
it was silly fun. why the hate?

Oh, you know, I admit, the regular brainy-ass annoying liberal arts sci-fi reasons. It wasn't Blade Runner. It wasn't Akira.

Honestly, I probably liked it more when I saw it than the worship of it that now exists. It was kind of too dumb.
   319. Tulo's Fishy Mullet (mrams) Posted: July 10, 2012 at 09:33 PM (#4179348)
The 'rumor is they will shut him down.' Wow, Buck really isn't paying attention.

Trying to think what the evolutionary benefit of that would be. Perhaps an unusually large number of triplets?

It doesn't need to be an evolutionary benefit. It just needs to attract a greater choice of fitter mates.

I never saw Total Recall until just a couple years ago, but I wasn't that impressed. The science couldn't get past my disbelief. Air does not work that way.

Was Doc the All Star pitcher who was younger than Harper?
   334. PreservedFish Posted: July 10, 2012 at 09:37 PM (#4179364)
I am glad that MLB is focusing on Trout/Harper. It's obvious, but it's the right thing to do.

Lassus and BWV are nuts. Total Recall certainly wasn't great, but it was a perfectly cromulent 80s sci-fi flick. And that's before giving it any credit for Sharon Stone looking as good as she ever did.
   340. Joey B. "disrespects the A" Posted: July 10, 2012 at 09:39 PM (#4179371)
Would it just be totally bush league for Harper to steal a base right here?
   341. Guts Posted: July 10, 2012 at 09:39 PM (#4179372)
Nice plate discipline by Harper.

EDIT - And a very nice aggressive tag up. Dude has wheels.
   342. Gamingboy Posted: July 10, 2012 at 09:39 PM (#4179373)
Harper with the baserunning.

   345. Zeba Zeba Eata Posted: July 10, 2012 at 09:40 PM (#4179376)
Yeah, it's cliched, but that's cool to see from Harper.

My GF just got home.

"The National League is destroying the American League," I report.

"That's because your pitchers can hit," say the New England native Red Sox fan.

A keeper.

Isn't going 1st->2nd on a flyout when up by 8 one of those unwritten rules things? Not that I care at all.
   348. Good cripple hitter Posted: July 10, 2012 at 09:40 PM (#4179380)
Sutcliffe would choose Trout over Harper because "I don't know why." Thanks Sut.

Sutcliffe is a terrible announcer that doesn't get enough recognition for being terrible. I'd rather listen to Hawk, or in this case Buck and McCarver than have to put up with Sutcliffe's horrible commentary.
   349. PreservedFish Posted: July 10, 2012 at 09:41 PM (#4179381)
