The knowledge about New Girl on this board is a little frightening.
   402. Guts Posted: July 10, 2012 at 09:54 PM (#4179435)
It was more of a hit than the one Jeter had.

These were both spectacularly not hits.
   403. Harveys Wallbangers Posted: July 10, 2012 at 09:54 PM (#4179436)
kershaw has to be the best amish born player ever

Bring in Dickey!

The knowledge about New Girl on this board is a little frightening.

It's hilarious. Schmidt is the best new character on TV.
   407.   Posted: July 10, 2012 at 09:54 PM (#4179440)
Does anyone else get slightly amused that announcers always say "good at-bat" after a walk? It wasn't an at-bat at all!

every time ortiz runs he makes me think he is going to pull a tap and fill a glass when he gets to a base

the run counts double if he does that
   410. boteman is not here 'til October Posted: July 10, 2012 at 09:54 PM (#4179443)
Harper needs those Wild Thing glasses to see those fly balls better.
   411. Shredder Posted: July 10, 2012 at 09:55 PM (#4179444)
The knowledge about New Girl on this board is a little frightening.
It's actually not a bad show. Worth the DVR space one episode at a time.
   412. Ned Garvin: Male Prostitute Posted: July 10, 2012 at 09:55 PM (#4179445)
Would be awesome: warming up Dickey is just a decoy. Also, sending out Butler to the on-deck circle, but pulling him back. Pissing people off in situations like this is hilarity. Even though I like both of those guys.
   413. Tulo's Fishy Mullet (mrams) Posted: July 10, 2012 at 09:55 PM (#4179446)
Somehow there are more employees/grounds crew personnel in the bullpen than there are relief pitchers.
   414. Harveys Wallbangers Posted: July 10, 2012 at 09:55 PM (#4179447)
the way buck talks about larussa and duncan one would think they were celebrating gay marriage
   415. Ned Garvin: Male Prostitute Posted: July 10, 2012 at 09:56 PM (#4179448)
Missing from checklist: They had KC BBQ before one of the breaks.
   416. Harveys Wallbangers Posted: July 10, 2012 at 09:56 PM (#4179449)
where was that pitch????????
   417. Ned Garvin: Male Prostitute Posted: July 10, 2012 at 09:57 PM (#4179450)
Also missing (kind of): Ruiz dropped a ball while warming up Dickey.
   418. Monty Predicts a Padres-Mariners WS in 2016 Posted: July 10, 2012 at 09:57 PM (#4179451)
I'm now hoping for a walk in the hopes that they have to go to Dickey right away.
   419. Lassus Posted: July 10, 2012 at 09:57 PM (#4179452)
WHAT? Hanrahan? #### that! Dickey!
   420. Dan Posted: July 10, 2012 at 09:57 PM (#4179453)
Harper needs those Wild Thing glasses to see those fly balls better.

I was thinking he could use the eyeblack to deal with the lights.
   421. Crispix reaches boiling point with lackluster play Posted: July 10, 2012 at 09:58 PM (#4179454)
"Ian Kinsler, more than almost any right-handed batter in the American League, is a pull hitter."

FACTCHECKERS, UNITE AND UNIHILATE!

Edit: I think McCarver said this. But I wrote "Sutcliffe" instead for some reason.
   422. Shredder Posted: July 10, 2012 at 09:58 PM (#4179455)
If you're on any base, it's usually helpful if you're actually alive, Tim.
   423. Guts Posted: July 10, 2012 at 09:58 PM (#4179456)
Both of the reigning Cy winners have been bad tonight. We need to exclude those guys from the ASG in the future.

Hey look, Harper caught the ball!
   424. Joey B.: posting for the kids of northeast Ohio Posted: July 10, 2012 at 09:58 PM (#4179457)
Phew, at least Harper didn't cause any unearned runs.
   425. Lassus Posted: July 10, 2012 at 09:58 PM (#4179458)
Oh, holy Piazza, for a split-second I thought that was going out.
   426. Effervesoteric Posted: July 10, 2012 at 09:58 PM (#4179459)
HOORAY! HARPER MADE A ROUTINE PLAY IN RIGHT FIELD!
   427. Harveys Wallbangers Posted: July 10, 2012 at 09:58 PM (#4179461)
kershaw had kinsler struck out

ump got chicken not wanting to call strike 3 to end inning

   428. The elusive Robert Denby Posted: July 10, 2012 at 09:58 PM (#4179462)
Maybe TLR is waiting for a ten run lead before trusting the knuckleballer.
   429. Tulo's Fishy Mullet (mrams) Posted: July 10, 2012 at 09:58 PM (#4179463)
They had KC BBQ before one of the breaks

Probably the only cuisine (KC or otherwise) I insist on having weekly.
   430. Monty Predicts a Padres-Mariners WS in 2016 Posted: July 10, 2012 at 09:58 PM (#4179464)
As the ball heads toward Harper: "Does he see it?" Good one!
   431. Guts Posted: July 10, 2012 at 09:59 PM (#4179465)
Sutcliffe: "Ian Kinsler, more than almost any right-handed batter in the American League, is a pull hitter."

FACTCHECKERS, UNITE AND UNIHILATE!

One of Buck/McCarver said this almost verbatim. This ensures it is wrong.
   432.   Posted: July 10, 2012 at 10:00 PM (#4179466)
HOORAY! HARPER MADE A ROUTINE PLAY IN RIGHT FIELD!

There are no routine play for a left fielder in right field :)
   433. boteman is not here 'til October Posted: July 10, 2012 at 10:00 PM (#4179467)
WHAT? Hanrahan? #### that! Dickey!

Can we still call him Gas-Can-rahan??? Hellz yeah! It's the All-Star Game!!

This just in: they announced Chris Sale was warming in the bullpen, camera panned over, showed it empty. Then Sale turned to face the camera and we could see that he was, indeed, there. He's thinner than Eck from that old Outer Limits episode.
   434. The elusive Robert Denby Posted: July 10, 2012 at 10:00 PM (#4179468)
Is Ray Romano the only celebrity who's standing up to cancer?
   435. Effervesoteric Posted: July 10, 2012 at 10:01 PM (#4179469)
Erm...left field, that is.
   436. Crispix reaches boiling point with lackluster play Posted: July 10, 2012 at 10:01 PM (#4179470)
WHAT? Hanrahan? #### that! Dickey!

But Hanrahan's spent the whole year growing his hair out to look like Eric Gagne!
   437.   Posted: July 10, 2012 at 10:01 PM (#4179471)
Sutcliffe (to Cano:) Robby, can you please tell us what Derek Jeter has meant to you?

GAG, #### sakes.
   438. Benji Gil Gamesh Rises Posted: July 10, 2012 at 10:01 PM (#4179472)
NL rules, AL sucks, Kate Upton.
Upton is nothing special.
   439. The elusive Robert Denby Posted: July 10, 2012 at 10:01 PM (#4179473)
Is this the "pimp shoe" All Star Game?
   440. Gamingboy Posted: July 10, 2012 at 10:01 PM (#4179474)
Chipper Jones. You are down by 8, Chris. You know what to do.
   441. JJ1986 Posted: July 10, 2012 at 10:02 PM (#4179475)
"First Ballot Hall of Famer?" I think that's a designation that should be reserved for people who are actually in the Hall.
   442. Joey B.: posting for the kids of northeast Ohio Posted: July 10, 2012 at 10:02 PM (#4179476)
Well done Larry!
   443. Harveys Wallbangers Posted: July 10, 2012 at 10:02 PM (#4179477)
nice hand

and i think kinsler tanked that on purpose
   444. RoyalsRetro (AG#1F) Posted: July 10, 2012 at 10:02 PM (#4179478)
Is there a requirement that there be an anonymous Pirates reliever in the ASG every year? I mean, they already had a legit All-Star in McCutch.
   445. The elusive Robert Denby Posted: July 10, 2012 at 10:02 PM (#4179479)
He lost a grounder in the shirts? Sweet zombie Jesus, Tim.
   446. AJMcCringleberry Posted: July 10, 2012 at 10:03 PM (#4179480)
Rigged.
   447. Gamingboy Posted: July 10, 2012 at 10:03 PM (#4179481)
Matt Wieters is in, leading to the presumption Joe Mauer is going to be the only guy left on the bench at the end.
   448. Guts Posted: July 10, 2012 at 10:03 PM (#4179482)
Upton is nothing special.

I was summarizing the thread. I concede my failure in not including the chick with three breasts from Total Recall.
   449. Lassus Posted: July 10, 2012 at 10:03 PM (#4179483)
Upton is nothing special.

Disagree, and I'm usually a pretty difficult room.
   450. JJ1986 Posted: July 10, 2012 at 10:04 PM (#4179484)
Trout feeling some empathy for Harper.
   451. Monty Predicts a Padres-Mariners WS in 2016 Posted: July 10, 2012 at 10:04 PM (#4179485)
Bad day for ROY candidates in left field.
   452. JJ1986 Posted: July 10, 2012 at 10:04 PM (#4179486)
I think BJ is overrated, but Justin's a hell of a ball player.
   453. The elusive Robert Denby Posted: July 10, 2012 at 10:05 PM (#4179487)
Upton is nothing special.

Disagree, because boobs.
   454. RoyalsRetro (AG#1F) Posted: July 10, 2012 at 10:05 PM (#4179488)
Nice catch by O's outfielder Andruw Jones.
   455. spike Posted: July 10, 2012 at 10:05 PM (#4179489)
I think Kinsler did that on purpose, and think he is a capital fellow if so.
   456. Hey - you and Tommy Lasorda...I hate Tommy Lasorda Posted: July 10, 2012 at 10:06 PM (#4179490)
Could there be an all time all-Cabrerra infield
   457.   Posted: July 10, 2012 at 10:06 PM (#4179491)
I think BJ is overrated, but Justin's a hell of a ball player.

My fantasy team disagrees.
   458. Lassus Posted: July 10, 2012 at 10:06 PM (#4179493)
I don't think Kinsler did it on purpose because Chipper, I just think he didn't really care.
   459. Guts Posted: July 10, 2012 at 10:06 PM (#4179494)
Sale looks like a skeleton. Still manages to strike out Freese (not that that's hard).
   460. The Kentucky Gentleman, Mark Edward Posted: July 10, 2012 at 10:07 PM (#4179495)
Way to show 'em how to pitch Sale.
   461. A Fatty Cow That Need Two Seats Posted: July 10, 2012 at 10:07 PM (#4179496)
piazza stache sighting!
   462. Crispix reaches boiling point with lackluster play Posted: July 10, 2012 at 10:07 PM (#4179497)
After all these years I finally figured out who Kinsler looks like. Kenny Bania.
   463. Monty Predicts a Padres-Mariners WS in 2016 Posted: July 10, 2012 at 10:07 PM (#4179498)
"We go back to 1996 and flash-forward to tonight"? I hate these post-modern storytelling devices.
   464. Shredder Posted: July 10, 2012 at 10:08 PM (#4179499)
Could there be an all time all-Cabrerra infield
Francisco behind the plate. Orlando and Asdrubal up the middle. Can Miggy play first and third at the same time?
   465. JJ1986 Posted: July 10, 2012 at 10:09 PM (#4179501)
Jolbert Cabrera could be at 3B.
   466. Ned Garvin: Male Prostitute Posted: July 10, 2012 at 10:09 PM (#4179502)
No-hitter montage! Along with other trite commentary, thanks to the Fox commercial.
   467. AJMcCringleberry Posted: July 10, 2012 at 10:10 PM (#4179504)
Dickey!

That's GOLD Crispixy
   469. PreservedFish Posted: July 10, 2012 at 10:10 PM (#4179506)
Honestly, Dickey vs Trout is what the All-Star game is all about.
   470. Gamingboy Posted: July 10, 2012 at 10:10 PM (#4179507)
Dickey time. And, yes, the montage.
   471. Guts Posted: July 10, 2012 at 10:10 PM (#4179508)
Mike Trout thinks this Dickey dude is overhyped.
   472. Monty Predicts a Padres-Mariners WS in 2016 Posted: July 10, 2012 at 10:11 PM (#4179509)
Honestly, Dickey vs Trout is what the All-Star game is all about.

It is! This is exactly what I want to see in an All-Star game.
   473. Gamingboy Posted: July 10, 2012 at 10:11 PM (#4179510)
Trout is out-Harpering Harper.
   474. RoyalsRetro (AG#1F) Posted: July 10, 2012 at 10:11 PM (#4179511)
   475. Joey B.: posting for the kids of northeast Ohio Posted: July 10, 2012 at 10:12 PM (#4179512)
And both of the young phenoms get on base in their first ASG.
   476. The Clarence Thomas of BBTF (scott) Posted: July 10, 2012 at 10:12 PM (#4179513)
I got back just in time to catch Dickey!
   477. sunnyday2 Posted: July 10, 2012 at 10:12 PM (#4179515)
Who is the AL catcher now? Wieters or Mauer?
   478. JJ1986 Posted: July 10, 2012 at 10:12 PM (#4179516)
The announcers seem unusually proud of their knowledge of Mike Nickeas.
   479. Hey - you and Tommy Lasorda...I hate Tommy Lasorda Posted: July 10, 2012 at 10:13 PM (#4179517)
I love this board. The all Cabrerra question took a grand total of 3 minutes to be answered.
   480. Gamingboy Posted: July 10, 2012 at 10:13 PM (#4179518)
Who is the AL catcher now? Wieters or Mauer?

Wieters as of last inning.
   481.   Posted: July 10, 2012 at 10:13 PM (#4179519)
Yay, Dickey and then I can go out.
   482. Guts Posted: July 10, 2012 at 10:13 PM (#4179520)
Ump does not want to call that 3d strike.
   483. Monty Predicts a Padres-Mariners WS in 2016 Posted: July 10, 2012 at 10:13 PM (#4179521)
The only things I really cared about coming into this game were Dickey, Harper, Trout, and Chipper. So it's been an action-packed inning and a half!
   484. Benji Gil Gamesh Rises Posted: July 10, 2012 at 10:13 PM (#4179522)

The problem is they all play shortstop.

C Francisco

3B Orlando
LF Jolbert
CF Melky
RF Alex

Butler still not in.
   487. JJ1986 Posted: July 10, 2012 at 10:15 PM (#4179525)
Is the cheer for Butler coming on deck? A HBP seems weird to cheer.
   488. A Fatty Cow That Need Two Seats Posted: July 10, 2012 at 10:15 PM (#4179526)
replay was inconclusive! didn't think it hit him.
   489. Lassus Posted: July 10, 2012 at 10:15 PM (#4179527)
The announcers seem unusually proud of their knowledge of Mike Nickeas.

Just hearing his name is ruining the DIckey appearance.
   490. PreservedFish Posted: July 10, 2012 at 10:16 PM (#4179528)
Is Butler on deck? A random cheer just went up.
   491. A Fatty Cow That Need Two Seats Posted: July 10, 2012 at 10:16 PM (#4179529)
dickey!!
   492. sunnyday2 Posted: July 10, 2012 at 10:16 PM (#4179530)
AL sucks.
   493. chisoxcollector Posted: July 10, 2012 at 10:16 PM (#4179531)
It would have been nice if these idiotic announcers could have actually talked about Chris Sale while he was pitching, or Paul Konerko while he was batting.
   494. Joey B.: posting for the kids of northeast Ohio Posted: July 10, 2012 at 10:16 PM (#4179532)
Man, this could be a shutout.

I wish I knew less of him.

Dickey!

Billy was on deck, but stupid Miggy ruined his Ribby chance.

It would have been nice if these idiotic announcers could have actually talked about Chris Sale while he was pitching, or Paul Konerko while he was batting.

I think they're trying to figure out who these guys from Chicago are that aren't wearing Cubs uniforms.

WOOHOOO R.A.!

She's not even as distinctive as Claudia Schiffer, and Schiffer was overrated.

From what my GF says, she's causing a certain amount of internet agita for her lack of distinction regular-girl body and cuteness.
