2012 World Series Game 4 OMNICHATTER

Remember the 2012 season? It started over in Japan, and, like, it was between the Mariners and the Athletics, and nobody really gave a darn, since OBVIOUSLY neither of them would be in the playoff picture? And remember when Matt Cain threw that perfect game, and the Orioles made the playoffs, and Josh Hamilton went deep four times in one night? And the Red Sox drama! And… and…

Well, this might be it… OR WILL IT?!?

San Francisco Giants (Cain) @ Detroit Tigers (Scherzer). SF leads 3-0.

This Dicks commercial gets me fired up every time. The music makes me want to go perform remarkable athletic feats until I remember I'm an overweight middle aged guy.

Do Kevin Bacon TV appearances count in the six degrees?

Kevin Bacon in a remake of the Pillow Book?

(My TV is muted, remember.)

edit: And Hunter Pence looks even goofier than I do with an equivalent amount of unkempt facial hair.
   106. Hey - you and Tommy Lasorda...I hate Tommy Lasorda Posted: October 28, 2012 at 08:36 PM (#4286314)
Sure seems like the zone for Scherzer was wider than the Cain zone in the first inning.
   107. deputydrew Posted: October 28, 2012 at 08:37 PM (#4286315)
Theriot has to be bottom-10 World Series DH of all time, right?
   108. Knock on any Iorg Posted: October 28, 2012 at 08:37 PM (#4286317)
That landed between the French horn and Andre Dawson.

That was such an ugly swing. I can't believe he hit it that far.

   130. VoodooR Posted: October 28, 2012 at 08:44 PM (#4286342)
For this Cubs fan, it's not fair that Theriot is in the spotlight and his "brother" Mike Fontenot (the one that I liked) is, well... I don't know where he is. Out of the game?

(I just looked it up... he played for the Phillies for a bit this year and then was DFA'd late in the year, despite a .343 OBA.)

That picture of Crawford -- saw it last night when someone posted it -- is all kinds of awesome. Were the Giants really that close to leaving SF? I kinda remember that, but didn't realize it was so close to actually happening... or was it?

Cool photo of Crawford - who could have known?

In terms of WPA (Fangraphs, at least) Brandon Crawford has been the biggest contributor among Giants batters in the 2012 post-season. Nope, not Scutaro or Sandoval. Crawford's around 0.495 now.

IIRC, the Tampa/SP stadium was built with no team in sight. But that helped force some other cities to build new ones or lose their team to TSP.
