  Michigan (48)
8 Texas Tech

5 Arkansas
  Florida State (36)

  Auburn (30)
6 Mississippi State

7 Louisville
2 Vanderbilt

Should there be re-seeding when they get to the last eight? We get these wonky groups seemingly every year.

And of course the two worst teams in the field win their opening games.

PSA: try to attend the CWS, it is a great event to attend in person. Yeah, I hate aluminum bats, but the vibe is fantastic. The atmosphere around town is fun, hanging with people from all over the place (mostly the south or west, of course). I'm a little biased/nostalgic towards old Rosenblatt, it seemed more organic, but there's nothing wrong about the new park, and the scene is terrific, provided severe weather stays away. I haven't looked closely lately, but its much more pitcher friendly than Rosenblatt. (changing the bats shortly after moving to TDA ballpark certainly contributed.

Not that it's any daring call to take the top-seeded team remaining, but Vanderbilt looked awfully good in the regionals and super-regionals, at least to me. My money would be on them.

These uniforms are abominations.

Vandy's in particular. Like if you took the Padres' old road tans and gave them the unnecessarily dark Diamondback treatment, then threw in some arbitrary flag motif out of a Manfred wet dream.

Wow. ESPN has run the graphic about five times that MS State had the most come from behind victories in D1 this year. Well, they’ve just score three in the ninth to tie the game 4-4. The tying run came in when the Auburn 3rd baseman sailed a game ending throw over the first baseman’s head. It looked like he probably could have tagged the runner if he’d wanted to.

And there it is! Chopper up the middle hits the pitchers glove and skips into center field for the walk off.

The surname of the kid who made the last out for the Razorbacks yesterday led me to suspect he's kin to the guy who coached my college alma mater's baseball team from 1981-2003. I mean, how many Goodhearts can there be involved in collegiate baseball in Arkansas? A bit of research revealed that they're father & son. A few years before he began his career, the future coach student-taught us "Hamlet" in my senior English class in high school.
