I don't understand why they didn't bring in a lefty to face Jaso when he came on.
   402. boteman Posted: April 10, 2013 at 01:09 AM (#4409432)
Jon Miller pointing out how Scutaro poked the ball through the open hole at SS since the SS had broken to cover 2B. Rockies were adjusting to Scutaro poking the ball the other way so he re-adjusted on them and called their bluff. Nice.

The well-moving Panda knocks in an RBI single to make an 8-6 Giants lead.
   404. Dale Sams Posted: April 10, 2013 at 01:10 AM (#4409434)
Hadn't a lot of guys here written him off before his resurgence with the Giants?

What are you talking about?? Sox got Clay Mortensen for him!
   405. boteman Posted: April 10, 2013 at 01:10 AM (#4409435)
Romo's job is looking less save-y and more win-y. 8-6 Giants now, thanks to their portly third baseman.
   406. Dan Posted: April 10, 2013 at 01:11 AM (#4409436)
Jaso has pretty dramatic splits, and he was hitting for Norris. It's not like Melvin could have hit for Jaso if Burnett came on there. Did Scioscia just not have him warming?

If that isn't the situation that signed Sean Burnett for, what is?
   407. Dale Sams Posted: April 10, 2013 at 01:11 AM (#4409437)
Good lord, who is that homeless guy in the A's dugout.
   408. puck Posted: April 10, 2013 at 01:12 AM (#4409438)
Hmm, maybe Wilton Lopez's elbow was bad after all? He is not off to great start in 2013.
   409. Dan Posted: April 10, 2013 at 01:13 AM (#4409439)
Haha wow, and they left Jepsen in to face Moss too? wow.
   410. puck Posted: April 10, 2013 at 01:14 AM (#4409441)
2nd DP ball Rutledge has messed up tonight.
   411. Dock Ellis on Acid Posted: April 10, 2013 at 01:14 AM (#4409442)
Anyone seen that shot of Panda in the dugout? He's just a tub of guts.
   412. Dan Posted: April 10, 2013 at 01:14 AM (#4409443)

He's a second baseman now. He was useless to the Red Sox unless you were going to play him over Pedroia. He doesn't have the arm to start at SS anymore. ANd $6M is a lot to pay a utility player.
   413. boteman Posted: April 10, 2013 at 01:15 AM (#4409445)
Brandon Belt needs to get the ants out of his pants, he is just way too impatient at the plate.

Rutledge learned everything he knows about playing 2B from Dan Uggla, with an assist from Brooks Conrad.

Holy crap! The Giants are making the Rockies look like...the Rockies!
   414. Dock Ellis on Acid Posted: April 10, 2013 at 01:15 AM (#4409446)
Whoa Blanco beats out a rinky-dink crappy hit to the pitcher and scores Scooter. 9-6 Giants.
   415. Los Angeles El Hombre of Anaheim Posted: April 10, 2013 at 01:16 AM (#4409447)
Jepsen has been consistently #### for years. A few good weeks a year seems to be enough to convince the Angels that, hey, he's turned it around, he's finally found his stride.

This guy ####### sucks. He's Esteban Yan. He's at best a marginal reliever who puts a ton of guys on base and often goes boom. And yet here he is still, soaking up important innings in close games, and sucking ass.
   416. Dale Sams Posted: April 10, 2013 at 01:18 AM (#4409452)
Let's look at our recent 'superteams' starts.

2011 Red Sox 0-6
2012 Marlins 2-5
2012 Angels 2-4
2013 Angels soon to be 2-5
2013 Jays 2-5
2013 Dodgers 4-3
   417. Dock Ellis on Acid Posted: April 10, 2013 at 01:18 AM (#4409454)
I wouldn't wish Esteban Yan on my second-worst enemy.

   418. Dan Posted: April 10, 2013 at 01:18 AM (#4409455)
Why isn't Trout running at all so far this season?
   419. Dock Ellis on Acid Posted: April 10, 2013 at 01:19 AM (#4409456)
Because he turned into a fullback.
   420. Dock Ellis on Acid Posted: April 10, 2013 at 01:20 AM (#4409458)
Sergio is in to close it out. 4 innings so far this year, 6 strikeouts , one hit, and no walks.
   421. puck Posted: April 10, 2013 at 01:20 AM (#4409459)
That well-rounded stuff doesn't pay off.
   422. Dale Sams Posted: April 10, 2013 at 01:21 AM (#4409460)

Oh, I know. And they've turned Scoots, Lowrie, and Reddick into Mortensen, Hanrahan and Bailey. and filled the holes with money (21 mill to Drew and Victorino) while having (now) an effective bullpen. It's a perfectly reasonable strategy for a rich team. As long as the BP holds up.
   423. Dock Ellis on Acid Posted: April 10, 2013 at 01:23 AM (#4409462)
Andrew Bailey's been very good lately, btw.
   424. puck Posted: April 10, 2013 at 01:23 AM (#4409463)
except for Brett Wallace. He's 0 for 3 with 3 strikeouts.

On the season, he's now 1 for 20. With 16 strikeouts.

Wow, he struck out again, 4 for 4. Looks like they pulled him. 17 K's in 21 PA's? That seems unpossible.
   425. greenback calls it soccer Posted: April 10, 2013 at 01:27 AM (#4409465)
Look at Rick Ankiel's strikeouts.

I wouldn't wish Esteban Yan on my second-worst enemy.

What prompted an Esteban Yan comment?
   426. boteman Posted: April 10, 2013 at 01:28 AM (#4409466)
Fowler making it interesting there. Romosexuals rejoice.
   427. boteman Posted: April 10, 2013 at 01:32 AM (#4409468)
Nice catch, Crisp. Don't ever f@cking do that again!
   428. Los Angeles El Hombre of Anaheim Posted: April 10, 2013 at 01:32 AM (#4409469)
Kevin Jepsen is Esteban Yan. Throws hard, sucks ass.
   429. vortex of dissipation Posted: April 10, 2013 at 02:04 AM (#4409477)
Astros win 16-9.

Bedard - 4 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 2 BB, 3 K, 0 HR, no decision

Clemens - 4 IP, 6 H, 5 R, 5 ER, 1 BB, 0 K, 3 HR, win

I realise the starter has to go five, but that seems a bit cruel in this case, doesn't it?

Kameron Loe has now given up six HR in 6-2/3 innings...
