4-12-13 Omnichatter

Hello friends, discuss today’s games here. It’s a good slate, with Baltimore returning to the Bronx for the first time since the ALDS, Atlanta facing Washington for early NL East supremacy, Oakland facing Detroit, and Clayton Kershaw taking the mound against Arizona.

Rooting for the Natinals is a greater crime than anything in the Philly area news.

Every stadium should have a roof!

Oh, please don't do that, Gary.

Kristopher Davis can't put on a 1B mitt and fake the position? They couldn't grab some failed ex-prospect like Lars Anderson or Daric Barton or Matt LaPorta or something and take a flyer at getting some decent production? There isn't even any conceivable upside in Alex Gonzalez or Yuni Betancourt at first base. I refuse to believe they couldn't have found a guy with some kind of potential upside to play at the position.

khris davis has tried play first and it was a disaster. he also doesn't want to play first. so that's a toxic combo.

the brewers don't have any prospects to deal and when doug tried to rummage he allegedly kept getting ridiculous demands from other clubs

that and during spring training hart was supposed to be back end of april. it was literally as the season opened that the start date got pushed back

most brewer fans want to give hunter morris a start but the crew has no shown interest in that route

no brewer fan wants yuni on the team and alex gonzalez at first base is half as silly

if you listen to doug and ron they didn't want compromise both the offense and defense so are willing to get half (defense) and hope for some offense.

we shall see

Looks like Sam is in full melt down over the Nationals beating his beloved Braves. Very mature.

If you think that's a meltdown then you don't know Sam.

Not every stadium, but one in the windiest/coldest major city in the US makes sense. It's 30 degrees there!

Seriously now.

If you want to read some classic "Meltdown Hutcheson" go back to the threads when Furcal backed out of his contract with the Braves. Now that was some true high-octane rage right there. I think that might even have been the origin of the neck-stabbing meme.

As one who actually got pissed off by Sam's schtick early on last year, I've actually grown to like him now (though I'm sure he'd be horrified to learn this). In a curious I way I feel honored that he's currently using a variation on a post of mine as part of his username right now.

I feel like we've come to a tacit understanding of sorts: his team is comprised of a bunch of trashy mouth-breathing steroid-cheatin' riff-raff scumbags, and my team is composed of nothing but Noble Heroes of Mankind.

2-0! This is a good start.

That's obviously #1 on the list, but I'm in favor of retractable roofs on all parks. I hate rain outs too. It's 2013, we shouldn't have to deal with them.

I believe it was from the ump who ejected Chipper in Boston because the ump felt that people paid money to watch him put on a show.

He has experience in the OF and at catcher though, you wouldn't think a popup would be the thing to cross him up. Popups are tougher in catcher's gear and with a catcher's mitt than with a 1B mitt.

Yeah, the throw beat the runner but Aoki was safe.

If nothing else the Brewers were able to get Miller's pitch count up to 25 in the first. That guy is dealing.

Bill Hohn. Ejected three people on one play (Tim Hudson, Chipper Jones and Bobby Cox.) The far too underrated portion of that comment thread was where I wished Hohn's kids would get cancer and die while he watched.

I'd give my kids over to the Boston archdiocese for day care before I'd let them grow up Natinal fans. People who root for the Natinals aren't really humans. They should be eliminated like pestilence bearing rats.

Perhaps not, Sam, but then again people who root for the Braves are most definitely Southerners. Better subhuman than scarred for life with the shameful stigma of having hailed from south of the Shenandoah Valley.

It's been a ##### of a workday and I had no plans anyway so tonight I am staying in and watching baseball. I was going to drink and feel bad about being a single guy in NYC home alone on a Friday night like a loser, but I remembered omnichatter and that you guys are losers watching baseball on a Friday night too!
   141. Good cripple hitter Posted: April 12, 2013 at 08:54 PM (#4412436)
Bonifacio just unsuccessfully attempted a bunt twice, then hit it off the wall and over Francoeur's glove in RF. Frenchy then missed the cutoff man (allowing Rasmus to score), and then the throw back to third (to get Bonifacio) went into LF, allowing Bonifacio to score.
   142. DA Baracus Posted: April 12, 2013 at 08:55 PM (#4412438)
If the ball has to go over the railing in DC, and the railing is a bit recessed, what happens if it hits someone in the face instead of going over the railing? Other than of course hilarity.

You may still want to perform that gut-check for loserdom.

Really? The Nationals have played a joke team, the White Sox and have a losing record against the only team that is any good. Braves have faced two joke teams...and the Phillies....

I think it's a tad early to be singing their praises.

I'm a known Harper fanboy, but seriously.... at some point, don't even the haters just have to say that geez -- this Harper kid is fun?

He is fun... that point about Harper was in regards to Harper at a particular moment in time(June/July of 2012) not his future or this particular moment in time. My prediction on how he would perform for the season was pretty accurate(outside of the last week of the season where he exploded, it was dead on up until that point in time)

You know how people don't run onto football games because they have historically gotten their asses beat by players in pads? I wonder if a pitcher pulling out a knife one time would dramatically reduce the amount of times batters charge the mound.

No he's not. He may be efficient, but the German cattle cars for Jews were efficient. He's not fun. No right thinking American would root for such an obvious asshat ######### shitstain of a human being.

We are talking about Bryce Harper.. You must have thought we were reminiscing about Chipper. In that case, those comments would be 100% correct. In Harper's case those comments are only correct if you are born without a soul (other words a New York fan--either team) or without decency (a Braves fan).

Edit: I see AJM and Clarence beat me too it.

####### Denard Span. No true baseball fan would want to watch such crap play.

Tweet from Adam Rubin, Mets beat writer: Franchise record for RBIs in a month is Jeff Kent with 26 in April 1994. Buck has 19 on April 12.

Hey, CoB, did you ever get around to checking your e-mail? (Or whatever E-mail you have attached to your BBTF account, that is.) I sent you a link to a little KC-related goody that I thought you might appreciate.

I get why Natinal fans would put aside common decency and root for the laundry. That at least makes sense to me. But the rest of you signing up for the most despicable player since Joey Belle is unfathomable.

True story. I want to like Jason Werth, but the ####### beard and hair. Son, get a real man's haircut you ####### hippie.

Geez, settle down, Bear Bryant. This Southerner act is going too far.

Again we aren't talking about Chipper anymore... or Pierzynski.

Bryce Harper is AJ Pierzynski with a hipster beard. How is this not obvious?

Wait, so Albert Belle was worse than the holocaust? I always thought he had some good years but then just went too far.

Do native New Yorkers like these horrible pandering new yawker car commercials?

I guess the "I'm a tough New Yorker brand and everything is better here" brand sells well, but it makes me resent this place.

No problem. If you like LTiA you're going to adore that. BTW, still interested in your opinion of any of those shows, although this thread is the wrong place for that (the old "Musical Grand Slams" thread is more appropriate).

Actually, Joey Belle had his moments. He did that thing where he chased those punks with his truck on Halloween, and he yelled at that chick in the dugout. He's way better than Harper.
