4-20-2013 OMNICHATTER

Submitting this a bit early… but, anyway, it’s Saturday. It’ll be the first game at Fenway since the Marathon and Friday’s drama, and the day will also see a LAD-BAL doubleheader, Scott Kazmir’s return, and Posey catching Lincecum.

MLB.anything is like the mob: I think once you sign up they automatically renew you until you cry "UNCLE!"

That would suck. My brother paid for my subscription last year(it was the last month of the season so it was only $20, but since I was travelling with him, he treated) My brother needs all the money he can get, he doesn't need a large unknown payment to hit him. (although to be fair I used my debit card for his insurance and got hit with a surprise auto payment one time---made him pay me back by buying me the entire Anti-Monitor build a figure series---geek alert)

I think the payments hit in early March; right before spring training games start.

I'll have to look into that then. Would suck if I have to give him some money.

Andy LaRoche is still active and the Nats need a third baseman for awhile. There's a chance to add one right there.

Wow, Andy is 29 years old. It seems like I've heard his name bouncing around forever so I assumed he washed out and retired ages ago. B-Ref sez he signed as a free agent with the Blue Jays, I assume that's a minor league free agent? It says he's arbitration-eligible this year.

I saw LaRoche with Buffalo a few weeks ago, so, yeah, he's with Toronto.

Eric Chavez with a two-run homer to bring the Diamondbacks within 4-2 in the bottom of the eighth. In other news, Eric Chavez is on the Diamondbacks.

The announcers for the Astros(or Indians) just lost any respect I had for them. They bagged on the quality start. ####### idiots...Arguably the best stat for starting pitchers post 1980, and they are bagging on it(while propping up the save)

I care more for a quality start more than about any other stat for starting pitcher(outside of era/era+)

So how do you feel about Game Score?

Diamondbacks load the bases with one out in the ninth, but can push across only one run. Rockies win their eighth straight, 4-3; they are now 13-4 and tied with the Braves for the best record in baseball.

This is correct. I had a $125 PayPal transaction around that time when they auto-renewed and it took a day or so for me to figure out where that came from. I had forgotten that was how I originally signed up.

I like it, but it's not nearly as useful. It's great for showing dominance, but personally I don't see any difference between a guy who goes 7 innings allow 2 runs 5 hits 0 strikeouts vs a guy who goes 7 innings 5 hits and 9 strikeouts, they were equally effective performances. But game score loves the strikeouts. I'm more of a actual results type of guy, than a theoretical dominant performance type of guy. The goal is to prevent runs, it doesn't matter if it's because you strike everyone out our if you allow your defense to do their job.

Besides game score doesn't really have a seasonal story.

I submitted today's Omnichatter a little late....
