A Complete History of Media Reports Chronicling the Wilpons’ Meddling in New York Mets Baseball Operations

I know that most of you know most, or all, of this already. But many folks do not realize the extent of things and it always helps to spread the word.

I agree that the Mets on balance have been a poorly managed franchise, even though they also have clearly been the victim of an unlucky series of injuries to pitchers. Having said that, one should never confused 'reported' with 'factually correct'.

This is just what they omitted!
There are many topics not addressed below, as this is a simply a list of known facts relating primarily to baseball operations. This does not include various other scandals, skirmishes, and reports relating to things like the lawsuit between Doubleday and Wilpon, the Mets Loyalty Oath, the Wilpons’ attempts to build a casino at Citi Field, and the affordable housing which was supposed to be built there but which was not. This does not include the unusual on-the-record statements by Jeff Wilpon this year about payroll (“We’re set out to … win the World Series, not try to be the top five in payroll”) or the purchase of a professional eSports Overwatch team. Nor does this include general mismanagement of the team which could be attributable to multiple parties, including the GM or medical staff, such as the failure to conduct physical exams of players they’ve acquired.

I don't know how Mets fans deal with their strong self-immolation tendencies coupled with the heartbreak of low combustibilty. My sympathies.
