A Mechanical Look at Chris Perez - Driveline Mechanics

The question always is, how long will his arm last?

Overall, I’m not terribly enthused with what I see from Chris Perez. As an Indians fan, I hope that Chris Perez can avoid the disabled list if he’s used as a reliever, but I forsee elbow strain/inflammation on the horizon for him, with possible bone spurs and UCL tears/rupture.

These guys are worse than useless. And I mean that literally -- they actively SUBTRACT from our knowledge by introducing ridiculous pseudo-knowledge into the discussion.

Cargo cult science, as Feynman called it. But the first time I saw Perez pitch, I had the same impression about the likelihood of injury, just without the fancy jargon.

Perez has also been dealing with a bone spur on his ankle all season, that he decided to play through rather than have removed. IMO the Indians need to shut him down and get that fixed, and see if it's what is behind this year's scary velocity drop.

Ehhh, I think there is certainly some merits in mechanical analysis, just don't take it as the abosalute truth and we should be fine.
