Actor-comedian Robert Wuhl likes Nationals to repeat as NL East champions

And they’ll probably !!Destroy-Oh-Boy!!

How long have you been playing fantasy baseball?

Wuhl » I’ve been playing for over 25 years. When I started there was no internet and there were very few of us playing fantasy sports. Things have changed now and the amount of information you get on players is incredible. Now fans take fantasy baseball seriously, and I appreciate the passion and fanaticism of the people that do. I’m one of them.

Have you been to a game at Nationals Park?

Wuhl » Yes, it is a great place to watch a game. I had a chance to watch a game at the park with columnist George Will, and it was great to talk baseball with him. In Washington you see people of different political parties and beliefs pulling together and supporting the Nationals. Baseball is wonderful at bringing people together because it has natural pauses and you can watch and talk about the game.

What do you think of the Nationals this season?

Wuhl » I like them to repeat in the [NL] East. I might draft their entire pitching staff for my team. What’s not to like? Stephen Strasburg’s back this season, they traded for Denard Span, who will be leading off and playing centerfield, and a full year of Bryce Harper should excite Nats fans.

My childhood has ensured I'll never not associate Wuhl with Alexander Knox.

And I like the Braves to claim their first division title since '05 while the Nats fight for a Wild Card slot.

I hope Wuhl isn't working at Sears. Lady Kenmores--nasty.

Jim Williams has the journalistic firepower of Mary Hart. At least Mary Hart had nice legs.

The Nationals had no comment, because they had no idea who he was or why he mattered.

He was dead wrong. Candlesticks do not make a great gift. The registry was a good idea however.

This should be a weekly series.

"Brian Benben thinks the Reds will fall back to earth this year"

"Kadeem Hardison is excited about the Rangers' new crop of prospects"

"Jenna von Oy has no idea what the Mariners are doing"

Once again our celebrity worship and star-f***ing culture says hello; an entertainer with nothing special to add gets air-time for this.

Next week he will testify before Congress on farm policy (no, wait, that is Sissy Spacek).

Okay Repoz, that was officially a serious stealth reference. It's two separate cultural references deep.

Really like that album by the way. Good adrenaline music.

I've never met anyone who likes Robert Wuhl as a performer or comedian.

What does star-f***ing have to do with Robert Wuhl? Isn't the presence of a star required?

He's got more stealth references in his little pinky than you have in your whole pinky!

To be fair I think you could say the same thing about Jack Zduriencik.

I had never seen a picture of him until I Googled him just now to get the correct spelling of his name. His head is a spectacularly perfect egg-shape.

Wuhl is known as one of the biggest baseball fans in Hollywood. That's probably why they sought his opinion. And for what it's worth, I liked him in Arliss.
   17. Voros McCracken of Pinkus Posted: February 09, 2013 at 04:21 PM (#4366158)
When I woke up today I was pretty sure I wouldn't see Kadeem Hardison and the New Bomb Turks referenced in the same BTF thread. How wrong I was...

Robert Wuhl was in Bull Durham. That gives him some serious baseball related hollywood cred, regardless of how much Arliss sucked.

This would have been totally worth it if he'd answered the question whether he'd been to a game at Nationals Park with a simple: "Yeah I came. I'm glad I came."
   20. Cowboy Popup Posted: February 09, 2013 at 05:03 PM (#4366169)
Robert Wuhl was in Bull Durham.

And Cobb! For a guy without a lot of IMDB entries, he's been in a lot of baseball stuff.

Arli$$ was some sort of sadistic exercise in anti-comedy. But Wuhl is very funny in Bull Durham. He's not without his uses as a performer.

Seriously Crispix. Iced tea came out of my nose. That was hilarious.

Also, in defense of this particular star-####, apparently Wuhl has been playing fantasy baseball for longer than some of you punks have been alive! Which, for some reason, is supposed to be relevant to a baseball site.

I mean, c'mon, it's not his fault he's not in some shitty indie rock band
   25. tfbg9 Posted: February 09, 2013 at 06:08 PM (#4366199)
Wuhl used to do a bit where he lists all the bad movies Burt Reynolds has been in, that was kinda funny.
Burt's sure been in a lot of bad ones, this is true.

"Stroker Ace. Stroker Ace?"

Robert Wuhl almost stole Batman from Jack Nicholson. Sort of.
