A.J. Ellis suffers severe ankle sprain during no-hitter celebration

Ellis jumped up and landed on Drew Butera’s discarded catcher’s gear during the celebration, he said.

When you’re a 33-year-old catcher, hitting .170, and you’ve just returned from the DL, this isn’t the smartest thing to do.

If Olivio had kept his mouth shut, both he and Alex Guerrero would be in LA now.

Given how low H/9 has gotten (tied for 6th lowest H/9 in the NL in the past half century) we may see a few no-hitters this season.

As a guy who once tore one of the posterior tendons in his ankle by stepping down from a curb, I can relate.

Feel better, AJ.

Tim Federowicz is probably a better player than Olivo, anyway.

Actually, if you are 33 and have a .170 batting average, staying on the DL might be your best strategy.
