Time to take 3 from the Arsetros and move on to the World Series !
Oh Yes ! !! !!! !!!!!

If it doesn't work out, no sweat. You went further than anyone expected.

On a yesterday note... that catch by the fan in center field was better than Turner's HR as such.
Too bad both teams in the NL semifinal are absolute HATE teams.

Altuve needs to switch to the Giants or Yankees right away.
No need to stay with a One Season Wonder like the Arsetros.

I wouldn't mind seeing the Astros win it all for their fans, but their execrable ownership makes it impossible to root for.

If the Yankees lose, this will be the least I've cared about a World Series since forever.

Reading At-At's stuff makes me think two things:

1)I'm sorry we root for the same team (Giants), and
2) English is not his first language.

I think it was, but he's since rejected it for another, and shows his distain for his mother tongue by abusing it in public forums.

Anyways, has anyone read anything good explaining how Sabathia is still managing to be so successful? Is this reinvention going to stick and he'll pull a Jamie Moyer and end up cruising to like 350 wins?

If he has so many holes batting right-handed, why not just bat left-handed only? I've never understood the need to switch-hit when the batter is crap from one side of the plate.

That has to change !

His punctuation habits make me suspect that he's primarily francophone.

As to the other thing, he has professed to be a Yankees fan this offseason. So you're off the hook. And he has terrible taste.

Don't tell me the ball isn't juiced. An off balance, half swing, one handed poke is a HR?
   47. Baldrick Posted: October 16, 2017 at 08:48 PM (#5555394)
I don't know how anyone can seriously argue that the ball isn't juiced.
   48. Chip Posted: October 16, 2017 at 08:49 PM (#5555396)
Yankee Stadium giveth the cheapest HRs ever - completely fooled, off-balance, off-the-plate, one-hand, end-of-the-bat ... and it goes 250 feet over the fence. (The supposed dimensions in right are a joke.)
   49. AT-AT at bat@AT&T Posted: October 16, 2017 at 08:49 PM (#5555397)

Frazier was almost hilariously off-balance swinging at that ball down and away. I don't even know how to react to that, except... #46 and #47 get where I'm at.
   51. Infinite Yost (Voxter) Posted: October 16, 2017 at 08:52 PM (#5555399)
That was definitely a swing from Frazier that looked as though it might result in a bloop single.

   54. The Yankee Clapper Posted: October 16, 2017 at 09:01 PM (#5555407)
The park dimensions are the same for both teams, and I rather doubt the juicier balls are only used when the Yankees are batting. Such complaints are unworthy of BBTF.

I mean, the ball is clearly juiced. It's not the Yankees' fault that they were the beneficiaries of it. It's the Yankees' fault that they're the Yankees.

This. General anti-Yankee bias aside, I don't really care who wins — anyone in chatters know I root for one team and against 29 others. But if you're swinging one-handed, off balance, on a ball out of the zone low and away, that ball should not be launched over the opposite field fence.

They must have had to blow that video up and slow it down to find the otherwise imperceptible clear evidence to overturn that call. Don't have a real problem with using the technology, but it is making distinctions that the human eye can't see in real time.

Love these announcers trying to bullshit those balls, all you had to do was watch Hicks' reaction when he hit the ball to know he didn't get enough of it.
   88. Chip Posted: October 16, 2017 at 09:38 PM (#5555453)
Hicks clearly disappointed he’s made poor contact and popped out, but Buck has to call the ball like it’s a possible XBH just because the dimensions are a joke.

I agree that if you're reviewing the call fresh from the replay he's out.

Hicks’s ball was hit twice as hard as Frazier’s! Weak, but not Little League weak.

   93. Ray (RDP) Posted: October 16, 2017 at 09:46 PM (#5555459)
That close-up replay on Judge's catch is something I don't recall ever seeing before, i.e., that close up.

It's a great look. He catches the ball and then closes his eyes and braces for impact with the wall.

Health is a skill, and it seems he instinctively knows what to do to stay healthy. IE he knows he's airborne so straightens up his body and hits the wall with the part of his body (shoulder and side) that can most easily absorb the impact. Another player might have stuck out his hands to try to brace the impact, and fractured his wrist. In fact Judge pulls his wrist into his body for safety immediately after catching it.

Also: Being able to time the catch and the speed with which he approached the wall is important too. No crashing into the wall at 100 mph.

I don't exactly know what the "right" way to do this is, but what he did looked good, and I can imagine there's a wrong way for the reasons I say above.

Of course, now watch him leave the game with an injury....
