All-Star Timeout: Mac Needs Our Help. Please Give.

Many of you know the work of Mac Thomason, proprietor of the long-running Braves Journal. Mac has cancer and has been in and out of the hospital a lot recently receiving treatment. A group of Braves fans are trying to raise enough money to buy him an iPad with 3G so that he can watch games without having to rely on flaky hospital wifi. If you’ve enjoyed Mac’s work in the past and can afford to donate, please do so. Thanks!

Quite young - I believe late 30s but I'm not exactly sure. Alex ramati is a close friend and he's 37.

We did something similar on Comic Book Resources' Classic Comics Forum late last year. One of the best of us had a computer meltdown, & since he's on a fixed, & pretty low, income -- he's paraplegic (though he's also such a talented artist that he was hired by Marvel Comics about 20 years ago; unfortunately, because he has to draw by holding the pen in his mouth, he just couldn't maintain the necessary pace) -- he was going to have to wait several months to be able to obtain a replacement. That prompted a bunch of us to raise a few hundred bucks through PayPal to buy a new, very improved machine.

Every now & then, online communities justify their existence, I guess.
