All Things Joe: Springsteen, ‘Godfather,’ Convertibles

Joe Posnanski is everywhe…oh, shoot…it’s Joe Maddon!

Us: Your iPod please.

Maddon: The Boss, the Stones, Molly Hatchet, some Motown.

Us: What do you think of Gov. Sarah Palin’s glasses?

Maddon: I don’t like them. No frames. Those are non-glasses. I’m not into those.

Us: Almost forgot - why Branch Rickey?

Maddon: He was way ahead of his time. College-educated, Ohio Wesleyan. Major-league manager, player, became a general manager. He always looked for a better way of doing something. He was not afraid to challenge.

Wow. Joe Maddon is my hero.

Us: If God came down, and there were runners on first and second and no one out, would you ask him to bunt them over?

Maddon: Depends who's on deck.

And he loves Centennial, which is just awesome. BTW is finally out on DVD. I've spent the last 10 years kicking myself for not buying it on VHS when it was still in print. Then I see it on the shelf in DVD form a few weeks ago - I couldn't be happier.

Molly Hatchet? Really?

Molly Hatchet? Really?

I had not heard any reference to Molly Hatchet in ten years, minimum. What is sad is that I immediately remembered them, but, luckily, cannot remember any songs.

"Flirtin' With Disaster." They're probably best known for those Frank Frazetta album covers.

Can't believe they missed the obvious follow-up question concerning Black Oak Arkansas.
