HOW WILL THE ANGELS LOSE TODAY?!

I don't know, but somewhere the Yankees just stranded another runner.

I don't know, but somewhere the Yankees just stranded another runner.

3 runs on 10 H, 7 BBs, with 2 doubles and a HR is impressively bad. Even in 11 innings.
   4. What did Billy Ripken have against ElRoy Face? Posted: July 03, 2018 at 02:29 PM (#5704727)
Same Hendricks, different day. Sigh.
   5. Moses Taylor, aka Hambone Fakenameington Posted: July 03, 2018 at 02:48 PM (#5704754)
First innings just kill Hendricks. His 1st inning ERA is almost 9 for the year.
   6. What did Billy Ripken have against ElRoy Face? Posted: July 03, 2018 at 03:00 PM (#5704765)
Sheesh. Even the game score on the MLB radio listening screen doesn't update automatically - you have to interrupt your listening to refresh the page.
   7. Moses Taylor, aka Hambone Fakenameington Posted: July 03, 2018 at 03:09 PM (#5704779)
Russell has been quietly really good lately. Driving the ball hard the other way is a good sign, and that's what he looked like early in the year.

---

Just look up at the big green scoreboard, Elroy.
   8. Moses Taylor, aka Hambone Fakenameington Posted: July 03, 2018 at 03:12 PM (#5704782)
Almora's development has been great to watch this year. Len just said Almora is #1 in BA against pitches 94mph+ (I think that was the cutoff), at well over .400.

Jim Adduci's nickname has to be "I just took" or "I just dropped" or something, right?

Sigh. I wish.

Hendricks looking pretty shitty against a team that is not far removed from an 11-game losing streak.
   13. Moses Taylor, aka Hambone Fakenameington Posted: July 03, 2018 at 03:25 PM (#5704814)
A good throw could have gotten the runner at home there; Schwarber had the ball before he got to 3rd but the throw was weak and offline, rare for Schwarbs this year.
   14. Moses Taylor, aka Hambone Fakenameington Posted: July 03, 2018 at 03:29 PM (#5704820)
Cubs defense is so damn good
   15. rconn23 Posted: July 03, 2018 at 03:29 PM (#5704822)
Good news in the Yankees lineup: Drury in for Bird. Bad news: Torres, who was on base four times last night and is currently the second best hitter on the team, sits.

Looks like another banner night coming for the offense.
   16. What did Billy Ripken have against ElRoy Face? Posted: July 03, 2018 at 03:48 PM (#5704857)
Building from #10, the Tigers really should switch the batting order so that it goes Mahtook-Adduci. I cannot be the first to have noticed that.
   17. Moses Taylor, aka Hambone Fakenameington Posted: July 03, 2018 at 03:53 PM (#5704863)
That was some brutal defense in LF. What a terrible read, jump, and reaction.

Almora good

Low bar to clear, but his last month or so has to be quite easily the best offensive stretch he's had since coming to Chicago, right?

I would think so. Before that, it was probably January 2017.
   22. Moses Taylor, aka Hambone Fakenameington Posted: July 03, 2018 at 04:04 PM (#5704896)
Yes, and it's not close.

The bad was because of his last AB - bases loaded 1 out, infield popup.

EDIT: Not that I expect him to be perfect, but when he does something that reminds us of his first 2.5 years here it's hard to not revert back to expecting the worst from him.
   23. Moses Taylor, aka Hambone Fakenameington Posted: July 03, 2018 at 04:06 PM (#5704899)
Just realized when they showed that package going to commercial, all 4 hits that inning went the other way. Nice.
   24. Moses Taylor, aka Hambone Fakenameington Posted: July 03, 2018 at 04:12 PM (#5704910)
Bass is probably here to stay. I don't think he has any options, and he appears to deserve it.

Contreras out trying to stretch a single. Out by 25 feet, give or take.

Strop? Did Morrow have to drop Adduci yesterday or something?
   30. Moses Taylor, aka Hambone Fakenameington Posted: July 03, 2018 at 05:13 PM (#5704987)
Strop in the 9th, not Morrow. That's not a good thing...

Nice
   32. What did Billy Ripken have against ElRoy Face? Posted: July 03, 2018 at 05:21 PM (#5704990)
This isn't exactly a fearsome part of the lineup, so if there's a benefit to be gained from resting Morrow, it makes sense. I have to think we're eventually going to see more managers go with lower-leverage relievers with multiple-run leads against weaker hitters, even if it is a Save Situation (peace be upon it).
   33. The Yankee Clapper Posted: July 03, 2018 at 06:04 PM (#5705014)
Bad news: Torres, who was on base four times last night and is currently the second best hitter on the team, sits.

Not too serious:
Coley Harvey, ESPN Staff Writer

Per Aaron Boone, Gleyber Torres' hip flexor "stiffened up a little" last night. That's why he's out of today's lineup. Boone said he showed up today feeling better, but the Yankees are keeping him out as a precaution. He could pinch hit late in tonight's game.

Shohei Ohtani activated - he'll DH against the Mariners tonight.
   35. perros Posted: July 03, 2018 at 06:40 PM (#5705038)
Matt Kemp had slumped recently (7-for-47), but has opened July with hits in his last eight ABs with two doubles, two homers, snd eight RBI.

Gotta confess the Dodgers are involved in some kind of witchcraft involving Kemp (924 OPS), Joc Pedersen (894) and Max Freakin' Muncy (1.027). Game and a half back of the D'backs.

   37. Count Vorror Rairol Mencoon (CoB) Posted: July 03, 2018 at 07:10 PM (#5705047)
The Yankees' top six better hit tonight, because that bottom three sure doesn't look very promising ...

Shohei Ohtani activated - he'll DH against the Mariners tonight.
The Angels have also called up righty Miguel Almonte. To create roster space, fellow right-handers Deck McGuire and Eduardo Paredes were optioned down.
Even if he doesn't hit, just getting him back made the team better. I don't ever wanna see McGuire or Paredes again.

The Yanks really needed that. That Red Sox game was only 3-2 about 2 minutes ago.

And then a HR to center.

When's the last time a pitcher got two hits in an inning?
   45. the Hugh Jorgan returns Posted: July 03, 2018 at 07:30 PM (#5705060)
Xander fails at keeping the "single" streak alive. Compensates for that though by hitting a 3 run homer.

Sox now up 9-2.

Looks to be road win #30 in the books...
   46. the Hugh Jorgan returns Posted: July 03, 2018 at 07:33 PM (#5705062)
And a Devers walk.

Roark got tired of guys getting hits, so he decided to offer up a BB instead

Never mind. Johnson only got to bat once.
   48. ERROR---Jolly Old St. Nick Posted: July 03, 2018 at 07:36 PM (#5705064)
At this point of the season the Gnats are reminding me of the '85 Orioles. They're just mailing it in, and letting good teams just run all over them.
   49. AT-AT at bat@AT&T Posted: July 03, 2018 at 07:43 PM (#5705067)
Have the Gnats ever won anything or made it far in the postseason ?
My mind draws a blank.
At least the Gnats have a superstar, named Rendon, that has to count for something.
   50. Jay Seaver Posted: July 03, 2018 at 07:44 PM (#5705068)
Dang, I know Johnson's been in the pen most of the year, and I don't much care about the pitcher win, but a 9-2 lead, leaving him in for one more out and being less likely to have to dink around with NL rules next inning doesn't seem like a bad idea.
   51. AT-AT at bat@AT&T Posted: July 03, 2018 at 07:46 PM (#5705070)
I am currently actually thinking... that was deep ! ... that the World Series could actually be Yankees/Red Sucks vs. Giants/Barves .
That was so not my thought before the season started.

Yankees vs. Giants would be my dream come true !

Brandon Crawford is my story of the year. He has looked awful every season, striking out, popping out etc..
This year is magic. He has been strong defensively for most of his career, but this offense surge...
Either the Baseball Gods love him, or his season is blessed by cunning awesomeness... or Brandon Crawford is just ... a Korean !

The ML record for walks in an inning is 8, by Dolly Gray of the 1909 Nats. Since the White Sox scored 6 runs in that inning, I imagine more than 2 of those walks were with the bases loaded.
