Amazin’ Avenue: Howard Megdal To Announce Intention To Run For Mets GM

I received this in the mail the other day…but inadvertently tossed it out with a Michael Weldon’s Psychotronic Radio! blip.

On Monday, June 14 at 11 AM, Howard Megdal, writer for SNY.tv, MLBTradeRumors.com, New York Baseball Digest, and Poet Laureate of Amazin’ Avenue, will reveal his decision concerning an electoral campaign to become the next General Manager of the New York Mets. Mr. Megdal will make a statement and take questions from the media.

The event will begin promptly at 11 AM on the fourth floor of the Marriott Marquis, 1535 Broadway (at 45th Street). At the conclusion of the event, lunch will not be served.

Megdal, 30, would be making his first-ever run for General Manager of the New York Mets. His career-to-date has included a wealth of relevant experience, however, including writing about the team for the New York Observer, authoring a definitive profile of Cowbellman, and finding several different rhyme schemes for the phrase “Big Pelf”.

Megdal also understands the fan perspective. He is also a Mets partial season ticket holder, attended David Cone’s 19 strikeout game on October 6, 1991, and served one day as a political prisoner over his love for the New York Mets during Phillies Hat Day at Beck Middle School in Cherry Hill, NJ.

WHAT: Announcement/Media Availability by Howard Megdal

WHEN: MONDAY, JUNE 14, 11 AM

WHERE: New York Marriott Marquis, Fourth Floor

He will open his speech by announcing his plans to give Oliver Perez a 5 year extension.

Hmm. So what's Ralph Nader up to these days?

Depending on how this plays out, it's either going to be amazing or horrible.

Never cast a single vote for him.

I hope it's not a running gag. I like it as a one-off thing.

If Alvin Greene can do it for (to) South Carolina, Howard can do it for (to) the Mets! Do I get a free ticket if I vote for him?

Is this for real, as in "running gag?" Or is he just doing it one time?

Dammit.

Yep.

I am posting because I laughed at Joe's handle.

Congrats on a nice G4.

Which enterprising SNY reporter is going to ask if this is a ploy to meet the future Mrs. Megdal?
   12. Lassus Posted: June 12, 2010 at 06:17 AM (#3556954)
Howard's already married, so he's going to have to go to the Provo AA team to get that done.

You can't spell Mets without ... a couple of the letters in Megdal.

He will open his speech by announcing his plans to give Oliver Perez a 5 year extension.

And don't forget star 2B Fernando Tatis! :-)

Ah well, I was just trying to make a Newsradio reference.

Eeep. I have failed pop-culture! Sorry.

So, the Mets are playing pretty well now that I can't watch them?
   17. Banta Posted: June 13, 2010 at 09:38 PM (#3558263)
Don't worry, Russlan, we're already taking measures to prevent you from re-entering your country. Sorry, it's for the good of the team.

It's gonna be hard though since no one gives a #### about who goes to Canada. Haha!
