Anno: I’m Starting to Hate Jack Morris

Not to be confuded with Chester Morris in Public Hero No. 1...

I don’t know how many times I have to say this.

JACK MORRIS DOES NOT BELONG IN THE ####### HALL OF ####### FAME

It really isn’t that hard to comprehend. I mean, really. It isn’t.

Well, some ######### over at the BleacherReport disagrees with me. I don’t like people who disagree with me.

...And then we have those players who don’t get enough votes. These players are still great players, but they just miss the amount of votes necessary to get into the hall.

Bert Blyleven, for some unknown reason is one of these guys. Will Clark is one of these guys. Don Mattingly is one of these guys. Keith Hernandez is one of these guys. David Cone is one these guys. Tommy John is one of these guys. Mark McGwire is one of these guys. Tim Raines is one of these guys. Alan Trammell is one of these guys.

Jack Morris is one of these guys.

#### me with a lead pipe.

So, does he think that Jack Morris should be in the Hall of Fame or not? This piece is too ambivalent.

This is the darkside of the internet. Folks who can't disagree without being disagreeable. Fortunately, they seem to be in the minority here.

Criminy! What's the deal with all the swear words in all the articles posted lately?

This is actually a really well-done piece once you get past all the ###s. Except: is he suggesting that Will Clark, Don Mattingly and Keith Hernandez all belong? Oof.

The article dissected here points right back to the same points that always get made about Morris: he's durable and he pitched really, really well in Game 7 of the 1991 World Series.

It's this type of thinking that puts guys like Jim Rice ("the most feared hitter....") in the Hall.

Great counter-analysis here, even with all the swears.

Clark and Hernandez are both in the HOM, FWIW.

I thought that part was from someone that the potty-mouth disagreed with.

No, that was all potty-mouth.

You can certainly make arguments for those guys. And Tommy John and David Cone. But they're definitely not the glaring omissions that Raines, McGwire, Trammell and Blyleven are. Mattingly is no closer than Morris, IMO.

God, why do I get the feeling that I'm the only smart one around here?

Jesus Christ!

Hey, with that attitude, I don't care what kind of analysis he puts together, because I'm not going to spend the time reading past all the crap. The first sentence above, JACK MORRIS DOES NOT BELONG IN THE ####### HALL OF ####### FAME, must be in 20 or 25 point bold type. All of the bold type comes across like someone who wants to yell like they are on sports talk radio.

agreed, it's why I didn't read the article, even if I think he is correct. I just don't see the need to give credence to this type of writing.

Really you should be in politics. Or radio. Or on TV. You have what it takes.

I was thinking the other day about my lifetime all-star team (1950-present). And then I thought, Screw that. Here is my all-fave team.

C- Yogi. See I don't hate the Yankees.
1B- McGwire
2B-Carew
SS- A Rod. See I don't hate the Yankees.
3B- Brett
LF- Minnie Minoso. Who?
CF- Mickey Mantle. See I don't hate the Yankees.
RF- Tony Oliva
DH- Kirby Puckett
SP- Warren Spahn, Whitey Ford, Sandy Koufax, Jack Morris
RP- Rollie Fingers, Goose Gossage

I am shocked and appalled at how many Yankees make the team. You can probably guess if you don't already know who my home team is. But as a kid, the Yankees were the dynasty and I wasn't yet tired of them. More recently you'll see Goose and A Rod. The Yankees just happen to have some of the best and most colorful players, that's just the way it is. My second team would include Thurman Munson (soon to be supplanted by Joe Mauer, however), Reggie, Catfish and Guidry.

But this is just a roundabout way of saying Jack Morris Rocks.

"DH- Kirby Puckett"

You are a failure as a human being for:

1) Preferring a team with the DH to one without one.
2) Forcing Tony Oliva to run around on his crippled legs when you have a perfectly healthy OF with a good glove playing DH.
3) Liking Kirby Puckett.

Failure of humanity is making pitchers hit, and fans watch them do it.
