AOL Fanhouse: Jim Bowden Segway Video Emerges! (Video)

Funnier than Ethel Merman slipping on a banana peel!...More riotous than Cylk Cozart’s outside jumper!!...Crazier than Chantal Goya’s complete Yé-Yé output!!!

Thank God for the D.C. Sports Bog, which has this video of Jim Bowden on his now-famous Segway. Until now, Bowden’s Segway was the stuff of photo legend, so it’s truly revealing to see the GM zipping around the infield and doing interviews on it.

A few more observations:

—Dimitri Young looks either nervous or apathetic. Maybe both.
—Ray King seems like most gregarious, friendly man on the planet. I feel bad, as should every other baseball fan in the world, for insulting his plus-portly stature. OK, not really ... but he does seem nice.
—“Soulways.” That’s classic.
—Jim Bowden is the classic kid with a new toy. Everyone’s been that kid, whether last year, when you got an iPhone, or 15 years ago, when you were the only one on your block with a Nintendo. It’s a fun place to be.

Gob lives! I'm thinking that the Nationals management does not want the players to try the Segway TOO much...

15 years ago, when you were the only one on your block with a Nintendo.

That's only because everyone else had a Super Nintendo.

Fun video. If only he would TAKE OFF THE DAMN SUNGLASSES.

Also this might turn out to be history's only footage of Bret Boone in a Nationals uniform (right near the end). How long will he be on the team?

Maybe this is just me getting older, but does anyone else think some of the older games are a lot more fun to play? I played Super Mario Bros. 3 on my cousin's WII recently and was amazed at just how fun that game still is despite its relatively simplicity. That game and Contra have aged very well.

First house on our block with a jacuzzi - 1976 - and my parents weren't even swingers.

You sure that wasn't Aaron Boone?

My god, you're right! There's no way of knowing! The jersey just says "Boone"!

Ray King and Craig Counsell?

That sounds like it could be a good old-fashioned comedy duo, updated for the 21st century. Abbott and Costello, Laurel and Hardy, Counsell and King...

Like you know what went on after you went to bed.

The top story in local (Delaware) news today is a married couple that, upon the husband losing his job, decided to run an all-night, high-stakes Texas hold 'em ring in the basement of their McMansion, complete with the wife (and some other wives in the neighborhood) serving as topless waitresses. All while their three kids were sleeping upstairs.

They were arrested this morning, along with their (my new favorite phrase) "live-in bouncer."

High stakes, nudity were draw for gamblers, police say

Neighbors suspected the friendly basement poker games some had participated in had morphed into something else, but the truth was more than many could have imagined.

Police say that in the basement of William and Laurie Anderson's 5,400-square-foot home at 11 Little Circle in The Legends, guests played high-stakes poker with $20,000 pots, bet on sports and were served alcoholic drinks by a topless Laurie Anderson and other women -- all as three school-age children slept upstairs.

The Andersons, both 37, and their live-in bouncer, Matthew Balotin, 30, were charged with multiple gambling offenses and endangering the welfare of a child after a raid by Middletown police Monday morning.

...

When the town hired its first detective, Thomas Finch, he was immediately assigned to the house on Little Circle. The investigation ultimately involved examination of trash from the home, observation of cars parked out front and review of Web sites Anderson established for Elite Poker Inc.

As evidence mounted -- discarded card boxes, charge-card paperwork, chip receipts -- police said they recruited informants to play.

The informants reported games with $20,000 pots, a full bar with taps for draft beer, a 9-foot table to accommodate up to 14 players, and a wall safe to stash cash that police say Anderson took from each pot.

With the crackdown on steroids and the raid of the gamblers house, all we need now is the banning of more unhealthy food and I'll be free to live my life without all this worrying!
