AP: Nationals 1B Nick Johnson put on disabled list

Nationals first baseman Nick Johnson was placed on the 15-day disabled list Thursday with a torn tendon sheath in his right wrist.

He is expected to miss four to six weeks. Washington plans to activate first baseman Dmitri Young from the DL on Friday.
...
Johnson was injured on a swing late in Tuesday night’s game.

The oft-injured Johnson missed last season while recovering from a broken leg. He is batting .220 with five homers and 20 RBIs this year. He has walked 33 times, however, giving him a .415 on-base percentage.

If it weren't bad luck, Nick Johnson would have no damn luck at all.

Pretty funny that a guy with an iso-onbase of .195 hurt himself swinging the bat. Almost like he knew it was coming.

Honestly, Nick just may not be cut out for this professional athletics thing. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.

Yeah, poor guy has only made close to 10 mill over 5 years... I hope his luck turns around.

I was thinking the same thing. He'll never have to work a 9-5 job in his life, he gets to play a game for a living, and when he's done with that he can coach, scout, or just live off interest. I wish my luck were that bad.

If your body doesn't hold up well to the rigors of activities like swinging a bat -- not even checking a swing, but just swinging a bat -- you may be ill suited to the occupation of baseball player.

On edit: he gets to play a game for a living Or, you know... not.

and when he's done with that he can coach

"Former major leaguer Nick Johnson was struck by lightning while coaching a Little League game this afternoon...."

If it wasn't for bad luck...

Was he the last person on that often injured list for this season? Has Griffey been injured yet?

All I know is that he gave my fantasy team seven weeks of .415 off the waiver wire. I'll take it.

Death, taxes, the sky is blue, there are long lines at the post office, and Nick Johnson is on the DL.

Life makes a little more sense now.

I'm amazed Kerry Wood has held up.

I never thought I'd say this, but I really wish Nick Johnson would use HGH. Help the poor dude heal faster, I dunno.

Are we sure he's not Jack Clark's illegitimate son?

I think he and Chris Snelling are the same person - they've never appeared in a game together...
