Will the Red Sox sweep their rivals? How will this Brandon Maurer kid do in his MLB debut? Will Pelfray and Porcello form a “AL Central Pitchers who’s surnames start with P” club?

Find out today in the Omnichatter.

I'll just assume that Morse is back on the horse tranquilizers now that he's back in his old digs.

Michael Morse can't possible keep this pace up, can he?

162 HRs for the season? I'd probably take the under.

Mike Morse has 4 home runs already??

A-HA.

I know this is more dugout material, but:

Based on my skimming of wiki Gonzalez it occurs to me that most things are getting dumped into the Newsstand these days, including this omnichatter, which properly belongs over in the Forum section as I understand it.

But, whaddayagonnado?

I had no idea Austin Kearns was on the Marlins. I'm happy for him that he's still in the game.

Been here since 2001. Which still doesn't feel like very long ago to me, but as I do the math I realize it's TWELVE freaking years.

Wow.

nvm. wiki Gonzalez reports: "The database is currently locked to new entries and other modifications, probably for routine database maintenance, after which it will be back to normal. The administrator who locked it offered this explanation: #### off spammers"

That would account for the lack of updates.

It's a super secret club. They only let the really cool kids in. Or people with valid logins. I haven't been over that way to torment them in a while.

I'm not using the forum - don't like the layout. If this could be all proportional fonts and look like something I generated for work a decade ago, that'd be fine with me.

Longoria just passed a runner n got himself called out. Huge play when it should be 6-4 no outa as a guy on second
   216. zonk Posted: April 04, 2013 at 06:07 PM (#4404754)
The Rays should trade him. Does Brent Lillibridge AND Luis Valbuena get it done? Ask nicely and I'll even throw in Marmol.

Terrible call. Longoria never passed Zobrist.

How do you make that call when it didn't obviously happen?
   219. Bourbon Samurai in Asia Posted: April 04, 2013 at 06:11 PM (#4404759)
Even the os announcers are having a hard time with it. Jim Palmer saying he's never seen that happen before

I wish the Tampa broadcast had a better angle.
   221. Dale Sams Posted: April 04, 2013 at 06:14 PM (#4404761)
I would think the def should be 'closer to the bag in front of you then the runner in front of you' or 'draw a line from the runner in front to home plate and if the runner behind him crosses that imaginary line, he's passed the runner'.

I don't think either thing happened.

Jason Heyward almost overran Andrelton Simmons on Freddie Freeman's 3-run double last night. Simmons was going back to third for a potential tag with Heyward off at the crack of the bat from 2B.

Points to Gamingboy @217. Well played.

Excellent response. I was shocked that Infantino was still alive a couple of years ago when I found out.

I still link to the Roger Ebert takedown of Jay Moriatti From time to time.

Since it was the Marlins, I say we call the Nats shutout streak intact. It was only 1 lousy run anyway.

240: It has its own thread.

So... and this'll interest few ... one of the Midwest league games has a gameday link. That's noteworthy as milb.com only offers gameday for AA and AAA. So, i clicked on it - it works. It lists other league games in the scoreboard section - they too have working gameday pages, though you can't access them w/o first going through that one game's link (or guessing the url). Which you can totally do - I then pulled up working gameday pages for other low level leagues that had no corresponding link. (example: Dunedin v. Clearwater)
Anyway, I don't know if this is already known or if/how this would be a venue for data mining, but, if so...

Chris Young's minor league deal is for decent money (prorated 2m, with a few more mil in incentives),

Even when they're making plays, they still look kinda bad. Uggla just lost track of a screaming line drive in the lights, and just stuck his glove up, got lucky, and caught it.

Now 6 home runs in 6 innings in Toronto. Brett Myers gave up his fourth home run of the game when JP Arencibia homered to leadoff the bottom of the sixth.

Edit: Rasmus makes it 7 home runs in 6 innings.

So of course Jason Heyward, who is prone to some brain farts, makes a spectacular diving catch.

Ump was giving Lee pitches all night he wasn't giving Medlen or the Braves. On a freezing night you tell him to #### off and go get warm. It's a long season.

It's not a big deal, 2 strikes and 2 out in the 9th with nothing going on. But he wasn't even trying that last pitch. It's a long season, and everyone gives away ABs at some point. But he let the ump take him out there.

Pettitte, beginning his 15th season with the Yankees, earned his 246th career win and improved to 19-10 in 38 starts against Boston. He missed almost three months last season with a broken left ankle and finished 5-4 with a 2.87 ERA.

Pettitte has practically made a career of righting the ship for the Yankees. The team said he is 18-3 with an ERA below 3.00 in 27 starts with New York trying to avoid a regular-season sweep, according to research by the Elias Sports Bureau.
