anyone have a good reason why barry zito isn´t bashed anymore ? it´s freakin reddickulous !
but i like it ! go BC and Giants !!!

SF Giants >>> Pete Kozma.
   103. boteman Posted: April 05, 2013 at 06:16 PM (#4405699)
Zito had a 9-pitch inning and just finished an 11-pitch inning. He has shut out the Cardinals through 6 innings. Any bashing would have to be tongue-in-cheek (and you can still pick which cheek).

I think he was actually making the same point you were, but just used a confusing word in "bashed." He was asking why Zito is suddenly competent, the way I read it.

Me, I'm enjoying it. Hey, look at it this way: the Giants signed Barry Zito, and went on to win two World Series within three years! CAUSE AND EFFECT.

i saw zito in spring training 2012, and my thoughts were "omg, that is gonna hurt like it´s never hurt before" and then zito rolled through most of the season and yes, is part of the whole giants phenomenon... i still don´t get it though ! only thing that makes sense is the variability... then again, isn´t it just a timebomb waiting to explode ? (i never wrote this, q.e.d.) !

P.S.
BC aka brandon crawford is the best shortstop i have ever seen !

Wait a second...the Twins are walking the bases loaded so they can face ADAM JONES with only one out? They must have a lot of confidence in their ability to get a double play.

EDIT: Or to make him look foolish on bad pitches.

SECOND EDIT: Nevermind! Single to tie the game! Bases still loaded with one out...for Chris "Superhero" Davis to come to the plate. This could be awesome.

I've been turned onto all sorts of great stuff over the last four games (for example, Darvish's perfecto attempt) because of tips in these threads. There's just no better way to handle it.

Honestly, these threads are so fun, so helpful, and so universally well-liked, that it's really rather odd that it took so many years for this concept to get rolling. (And it was basically an accident, too!)

Not sure I get this. Are you saying that you can the same sorts of heads-up on Twitter? I suppose, but a.) I don't Tweet, and so don't 'follow' topics as a regular rule; b.) there's just too much 'noise' on Twitter, updating too frequently. Around here, I trust that the posters are worth listening to.

   120. boteman Posted: April 05, 2013 at 06:44 PM (#4405725)
The beauty of Twitter is that YOU choose exactly what you want to follow/read/subscribe to. I'm very selective about whose feeds I take so I minimize the noise.

If I really wanted the equivalent of an OMNICHATTER I suppose I could find enough sensible people to follow to accomplish that, but I've never taken it that far.

The last thing you want to do is follow the teams' PR feeds as they are more "BUY OUR CRAP!!!" and other rah-rah stuff; next rung up from that nadir are the team beat writers, although you might be left with them as your only alternative in smaller markets/for crappy teams.

Meh. I don't want to have to do that much research. I follow exactly one person's Twitter (a prominent blogger who I'm friends with who has a well-known, very very witty feed), and I don't even have an account of my own.

I like these threads anyway. Nice and conversational.

Huh, it turns out that while nobody was looking Kansas City went and laid a brutal smackdown on the Phillies. Nine runs in the past three innings!

EDIT: Make that TEN runs in the past FOUR innings...and counting. The Phillies really are screwed this season, aren't they?

#128 "Back in the day" I once attended an Orioles game with a guy who used to play basketball with Cal Ripken before he became CAL RIPKEN!!!11!!!

Ripken was batting so he said, (not yelling necessarily but loud enough to be heard) "Come on Ripken, you dainty fag!" which apparently he used to say to his face. This aggrieved father of two 5-7 year old boys in front of us turned around and protested because THINK OF THE CHILDREN!! I didn't think it was that egregious in context, but if you don't want your kids exposed to all manner of Human indignities you probably shouldn't bring them to a major league ballpark. Meh.

Make that TEN runs in the past FOUR innings...and counting. The Phillies really are screwed this season, aren't they?

They had a damn good run there for a bunch of years; the kind of run that most teams dream of having.

But it's all over now for this iteration of the team, and I think even most of the Phillies fans know this deep down inside, whether they're willing to openly admit it or not.

Dan Haren threw a flat fastball to Todd Frazier who turned it around for a HR. Then Zack Cozart said, "I can do that, too!!" Then he hits Choo.

Fortunately, Heisey popped out to end the inning.

I wonder how long The Dan Haren Experiment will last?

i agree in so far, as it´s just a jumbled up bunch of ordinary people, with normal human behavior (more or less) but the main focus should always be on fun and wordplay and getting loud and stuff like that. No aggression or beating up in the parking lot !

Guess you will never stop those 0,1% idiots, but i always found it funny, how my daughter told me after a game how some guy said "jeter" or some other "bad word" and i looked at her in a serious way and then smiled ! Baseball is still very much alive , i think !
