Are Red Sox equipped to deal with injury to John Lackey? - Red Sox - Boston.com

Watching the game, I wonder why Lackey didn’t call out the trainer when he first felt discomfort. Hopefully, it was just a cramp.

The Sox have a lot of very good young starters, but I'm not sure any of them are ready to fill in right now unfortunately.

Hopefully that doesn't mean Aceves starting games. Ugh.

If they're not equipped to deal with the loss of a guy who allowed the most runs in MLB in 2010-11 and didn't throw a single pitch in 2012, they're in far worse shape than I ever suspected.

I think 4-6 weeks from now they'd have better off. Webster didn't really stretch out much in the Fort, Aceves hasn't either and Morales isn't ready yet I don't think. I almost wonder if a guy like Wright might not be a bad choice for a start or two.

Checking the numbers as I type that out Webster stretched a bit more than I thought. I'm still not sure he's ready but he would be fun.
