Arizona Republic: [Orlando] Hudson has torn ligament

Diamondbacks second baseman Orlando Hudson said tests performed Thursday revealed a torn ligament in his left thumb and he hopes the injury won’t sideline him long.

“Nothing to worry about, just maybe a couple of days,” he said.

Hudson, who visited hand specialist Dr. Don Sheridan and underwent an MRI exam, injured the thumb while sliding headfirst into third base in the seventh inning of Tuesday night’s game.
...
Hudson, who played in his first All-Star Game this year, said he is determined to return quickly. “I’ve got to get in there someway, somehow to help the team win,” he said.

Diamondbacks officials declined comment.

Given those comments, with the Cardinals travelling to Arizona, if Hudson is seen talking to Ankiel, THAT’S going to set some tongues wagging…  :P

This sucks.

Hopefully they sit his ass down to heal and don't make it worse.

As if the Hudson injury wasn't bad enough...

...Dbacks sign Wickman

In an effort to bolster a tired bullpen, the Diamondbacks have signed veteran relief pitcher Bob Wickman, a former closer with 267 saves in his 15-year career.

He is expected to join the team today before the Diamondbacks begin a three-game series against the Cardinals.

...

Wickman, 3-3 with a 3.92 ERA in 49 appearances this season, actually contacted the Diamondbacks after his release.

"This is conceivably the end of his career, and this is where he wanted to go," Byrnes said.
