I feel like having him and Buck on the game takes away a large part of the enjoyment.

I was a lot more patient with all the "rah-rah America woohoo!" stuff before I found out how many Americans were actually willing to vote for Donald f***ing Trump. That's all I have to say about that.

Was still less then the other guy(well woman), but hey that's the system!

OK, no more about Trumb seeing as he's now Putin's b*tch anyway.

Go AL! And please no injuries to anyone.

I read somebody saying that Deivi would be mad at Max if he threw 98mph during the ASG, since he hasn't exceeded 97 all season. I wonder if Max got a talking-to in the dugout during that half inning??

As ridiculous as it is to interview players while they're actually on the field, at least Trout's got the charisma to carry it.

I'm sure he would've handled it, but I'm still glad that nobody hit a sinking liner in front of Trout in that last half inning.

There's a thin but strong storm cell moving rapidly towards Nationals Park. Local weather guys say after 22:00, but my Mike Trout-style eyeball thinks it could be sooner. In any case, expect death and destruction for a bit on national TV.
   141. The Yankee Clapper Posted: July 17, 2018 at 09:25 PM (#5711664)
The Weather Channel app seems to have that storm tracking just north of Nats Park, but let's have Joe Buck ask Mike Trout.

   152. Karl from NY Posted: July 17, 2018 at 10:41 PM (#5711706)
That said, making a player ineligible because he got traded seems like an unfair punishment

They couldn't let a traded player play during the This-Time-It-Counts era. If he plays for his old league, he's incented to sabotage his own team. If he plays for the new one, he's bumping someone else that got elected/selected to that league.

Nowadays it should be possible for him to have a spot with his old league that he was elected/selected to.

Nice of Lindor to rag on the umpire for a strike call on national television, and rightly so
   154. Howie Menckel Posted: July 17, 2018 at 10:53 PM (#5711708)
I don't follow the AL and I don't care about this game, but I flipped on for what I assume is that (admittedly endless) half-inning where the NL tied it up and Lindor was miked up.

I know he's a star, and know nothing else about him. but his agent may do cartwheels after that one. very likable guy, easy to root for. a little like the Mets' Nimmo, who is not at that level yet obviously - but also clearly can't believe he makes a living playing a kid's game, and can't help but let that show. good for him.

Misirlou had it right that the Brew Crew was gonna choke this away for the NL. For some reason I'm more emotionally invested in the NL now than in the days of "this time it counts". Probably because TTIC was stupid and also because of the all-time tie between leagues.

if anyone looks close, Hader hasn't been as Hader-esque in the past month.
MIL has tried to hide it with less usage, and that has worked to an extent because with good rest he can be more effective.

but Apr/May Hader has left the barn, I think, and he ain't coming back.

the good news for MIL is that he can be less than that and still pretty great - as long as he's healthy.

NL rally cap on. Seems fitting that it might come against a nondescript reliever having a career year on the basis of his team handing him the ball a lot in close games with the lead.

I (kind of) get what you are saying, but it's really messed up to think that way- "well, that's weird but what's really weird is he should have deleted it." Seriously? He tweeted "White power," "kkk," "I hate gay people," and the N word many, many times. That's not really a regular "problematic" tweet from a teen is it? I agree that Segura was MVP. OK, so I'm from Seattle, but really, in a homerfest, Bregman happened to be the guy who had the Game Winning RBI. They even needed more to win.

But like Saves and Winning Pitchers, sometimes it's just right place, right time.
