Astros Await Oswalt’s OK on Trade to Phillies

Not quite as big of a move as the Dodgers made earlier today, but it looks like the Phillies and Houston might have finally worked something out…

Houston - Major League baseball sources told FOX 26 Sports the Houston Astros have a deal in place to trade pitcher Roy Oswalt to the Philadelphia Phillies if Oswalt agrees to waive his no-trade clause.

Sources told FOX 26 the Astros have approached Oswalt. He is aware of the deal that is on the table and the club is waiting for his response.

MLB sources told FOX 26 the Astros and Phillies have agreed on the amount of money Houston will take back in the deal and the two teams have agreed on the players Philadelphia will be sending.

Odd, no word on who's going the other way, even in TFA.

Rosenthal has Happ as a potential piece.

I have seen reports of Happ plus 2 - 3 prospects. However, the reports vary on whom the prospects might be. I won't speculate beyond that, because it's hard to tell which media reporters to believe.

Rumors I've read include Jonathan Singleton as one of the prospects, which.. not super happy with that, but signing Howard to that ridiculous contract pretty much blocks him for the next zillion years at 1B anyway.

I'm going to be irrationally annoyed if this ends up costing Oswalt the chance to break the Astros team record for wins.

I've read Happ and P Vance Worley and a throw-in.

Worley's supposed to be pretty decent, right?

Happ as the centerpiece is more about clearing the roster spot, I would think. Happ's not going to make anyone forget Oswalt in Houston. But Ed Wade likes shiny ERAs!
