At this point these guys are just names to me. The #12 prospect, Stryker Trahan, has a great one for a hitter.

#70 is high school OF Skye Bolt. If he's not the fastest player in the draft, then something is seriously wrong with the world.

Let's play "Top 100 Baseball Draft Prospect or CW Starlet?"

Lex Rutledge
Britt Robertson
Shenae Grimes
Taylore Cherry
Taylor Momsen
Hoby Milner
Kolby Copeland
Malese Jow

This is a bit early, but out of Wake Forest, Georgia Tech, Florida State, Maryland and Duke, which team should I make a point of seeing?

As a Tech alum, I vote for Georgia Tech.

Prospects #2 and #15 are local, they both go to my former high school. I plan on going to their games whenever I can this year, something I've never done before in the prospect-rich environment of the San Fernando Valley.

Retro- I'd say Rutledge, Cherry, Milner, and Copeland are the prospects, don't know the other guys.

Right on all four.

Brian Johnson's inclusion at number eight has surprised and amused some Florida baseball fans. He's been a good-not-great pitcher for two years, and was good-not-great as a hitter last year. He was a pretty awesome hitter as a true freshman, but that was the last year before the NCAA deadened the bats.

Johnson's big, he's left-handed and he throws pretty hard. So it's not shocking to see him well-regarded. But "top 10 in the draft" well-regarded is a little odd.

That's because they're girls!

Appling County Comprehensive High School #### THE WORLD!!!

Seriously. I'm a little aghast to see the hometown and alma mater in that list.

Personally I am deeply disappointed that Taylore Cherry is a baseball player not a starlet.

Try to see, of all teams, Duke. Seeing Marcus Stroman, a short, muscular, defensive back/middle infielder looking dude, throw some insane gas is quite the experience.

Kind of a boring year to have those teams as your ACC options. GT and FSU always have talent but their 2012 squads are significantly less exciting than their teams usually are.

Stryker Trahan not only has a mondo-cool name. He is a power-hitting lefty catcher who can run and has a better than average ability to slow the running game.

Seems the talent is down this year compared to some of the recent drafts, though.

As interesting as the concept of two players from the same high school, two top 10 picks from the same college and it is NOT a traditional powerhouse. Victor Roache might be a bust because he hasn't faced a lot of great competition. But he has a very intriguing upside and could hit for mammoth power.
