Baltimore Sun: 4-0 since disappearing act of ‘Orioles Magic’

If something seemed like it was missing at Camden Yards last week, you deserve points for your observational skills.

The campy ” Orioles Magic” song that hearkens to the days when there was a “thundering roar from [Section] 34” got scratched after Opening Day.

In the past four games, the Orioles have darted out of the dugout before the first pitch to “Click Click Boom,” a song by the rock band Saliva, which might or might not have been inspired by former Oriole Roberto Alomar.

The concept of never-say-die Orioles Magic seemingly expired years ago, and now the song has taken at least a temporary hiatus from pre-game at Camden Yards.

Uggh…Just pull something off ‘A Date With John Waters’ and be done with it.

The Orioles should base this season on Season 4 of The Wire. Intermittent flashes of hope spiralling into tragedy. They could have White T-shirt giveaway night and Lake trout sandwiches and McNulty souvenir flask day and Freeman miniature fruniture auction. I would drive down for a free McNulty souvenir flask.

Look out, the Orioles are on top of the AL East!

Somewhere Nieporent is trying to convince himself he aint dreamin!

Their PECOTA playoff odds have climbed all the way up to 2%.

They'll be under .500 for good before May.

Haven't the Orioles had the lead in the AL East for a few weeks in April in each of the past few seasons?

John Waters overall has pretty good taste in music, as strange as that may seem to hear, but he hates Stevie Wonder, so I can't get fully behind his aesthetic.

You know a projection system doesn't think much of a team when they're 4-1 and still project to be 21 times less likely to make the playoffs than a team that's 0-6.

Not in 2006 or 2007, although they hung around .500 well into May both seasons.

In 2005, they led the division as late as June 23rd, and were only half a game back as late as July 18th.

They finished 21 games back.

Mainly because Wonder has refused to go see any John Waters films...

I thought John invented Polyester's Odorama 'scratch-n-sniff' cards specifically for Stevie...

Oof!

I could have gone my entire life without seeing a man screw a chicken to death. Really.

Also: John Barth! Just because he never gets mentioned in Baltimore threads.

I can think of few worse band names than "Saliva".

MILLAR: We're gonna play to one song, and one song only. "Lady Humps" by the Black-Eyed Peas. [sings] "What you gonna do with all that junk, all that junk inside your trunk? I’m-a get you, get you drunk, get you drunk off my lady humps. My humps, my humps, my lovely lady humps."

MORA: I am not playing to anything that references 'lady humps'. I don't even know what that means.

MILLAR: NOBODY KNOWS WHAT IT MEANS! But it's provocative!

Mark Lowe must live with the fact that he allowed Luis Hernandez to gain his first hit of the season in a game winning situation.
