Baseball image of the day: Prison Team

“New York State Reformatory, baseball team, amateur champions, Chemung County, winners of Chamber of Commerce Cup, 1921.”

This image SHOULD be in the public domain, but still, might as well note that John McNab has this under a creative commons license.

The guy with the glasses: everybody called him "Professor," and he was doing time for embezzlement. Everyone else was just in for various and sundry violent crimes.

Really, they had very little incentive to look at the camera. What's the worst that could happen? They'd have to sit there for another picture.

They had spare time once the season was over.

Looking at the score, you'd have to guess stealing wasn't allowed.

Is the guy in front the umpire?

And what did the cat do to get sent to prison?

Brian Sabean was the GM of the visiting squad.

And what did the cat do to get sent to prison?

Held up a truck delivering fish on a highway and when the police caught up to him, he plugged a state trooper right between the eyes in the ensuing gunfight before he surrendered.

Got the chair.
