Baseball Nation’s Favorite GIFs, Part 1

But over the last year, I made hundreds of GIFs. So, so many hours were spent in Photoshop, excising frames and trying to figure out how to keep the file sizes manageable. Most of the GIFs involved Ryan Theriot making a funny face. But there were others that had some broader appeal. This is my attempt to collect my personal favorites from my own stash over the last year, broken down into several different categories of four or five GIFs each.

The first category: Baseballs aren’t supposed to do that.

Ichiro could hit a single into a pitcher’s jersey, if he wanted to.

You can find other parts of this series here:

For the classics, you have to go with Israel Alcantara cheap-shotting the catcher, charging the pitcher, and then deciding he was ready to take on the entire other team.

The Alcantara mound charging is a true classic.

I've watched this one 20 times and I still can't figure out how that happened.

Looks like when it hit the grass, it bounced off it.

I think it would have gone fair even without the grass. It was spinning pretty violently from the beginning, and was already heading toward fair territory before it touched the grass. I'm guessing he caught it at the bottom and near the end of the bat, creating that ridiculous spin.
