I used to love going to their games. It was sort of on the way home from work, and near my favorite tamale stand, so I'd be driving by, see if there was a crowd or not, and if not, get seats behind home plate with the scouts. On weeknights most people would be sitting behind each of the dugouts, since there would be free stuff (tshirts and the like) thrown to the crowd.

Meanwhile, I would have a great view, and sometimes chat up scouts on particular players.

That actually looks a lot like the AAA stadium in Fresno, which is still one of my favorite places to watch a game from (when it's not 100 degrees outside). Makes me wish I was there right now.

How many more days until Opening Day?

There used to be a few minor league teams a (relatively) short drive from Toronto. I don't even know the closest one anymore. Does Buffalo still have a team?

Buffalo does have a team. Doesn't St. Catherines still have one as well, or was that moved too?

I've never been to Nawlins, but now that the Marlins have their AAA franchise there I'm planning a trip.

There are no affiliated minor league teams anywhere in Canada except Vancouver.

St. Catherines is long gone. All Canada has in the association anymore is Vancouver.

I've been thinking about taking my 4 year old down to see the Toronto IBL club play. Has anyone seen an IBL game? I had no idea the league was established in 1919!

awww...and I thought this was going to be something on the Denver Zephyrs.

I went to a Zephyrs game a few years ago (2005, maybe) and the food was spectacular. Shrimp poboys and other fantastic stuff. Then I went to a game last year and there must be new ownership because it was all terrible, generic stadium food.

Depends. Do you count the first game of the season as opening day, even if it's Yankees/Red Sox?

Baseball Reference's little used travel function. Not sure how up to date it is, as I don't follow Canada's semi-pro Intercounty league.
