Hit Da Slopes

Decent jokes on worthless cards, posted fresh twice daily.

I chuckled.

The Glenn Davis one is ... interesting.

I think if I live to 95 and am dementia-ridden with no memory, I will still somehow know that that wood-paneled background is '87 topps...

Nasty Nate - no kidding. That must have been the most purchased brand/year in the history of baseball cards. I compiled that set at least three times.

I don't know why that damn year was so popular, but it really was.

I had an acquaintance in 3rd grade (1966) who later grew on to better things: "Hitlerizing" a picture of the principal in the school newspaper. He creatively vandalized Bob Uecker and Jose Tartabull cards in a fashion not suitable for a family newspaper such as this one. The world needs stark idiocy.

I only wish I had thought of doing this, dammit.

The site is blocked for me here at work, but that Davey Lopes card is priceless.

I only wish I had thought of doing this, dammit.

This is the most-often worst feeling among English majors all over the world.

This is the most-often worst feeling among English majors all over the world.

Especially ones with thousands and thousands of useless baseball cards from the 1986 to 1989 era.

Juan Be Sedated?

I LOL'd.

This is a great idea but I do wish the artwork was better instead of just sharpied on. Beckett used to feature defaced cards every month and not only were they often clever, you could tell careful work was put into it.
   16. phredbird Posted: December 21, 2012 at 11:34 AM (#4330069)
15, i feel you but part of the charm of these is the brutal method the artist(?) used. its so juvenile you have to laugh.
   17. Dock Ellis on Acid Posted: December 21, 2012 at 01:14 PM (#4330223)
You can take an ordinary pencil eraser and simply erase the part of the card you wish to deface. The result would be plain white and boom - instant canvas for you to whatever colors you want to make it look as if it were originally part of the card.

But yeah, the juvenility is part of its charm.

I wish there were fewer of the gratuitous genitalia jokes, but some (Hit Da Slopes, Rat's Rick Rhodent, Pope Benedict's Cat, Greg Brockoli, A Martini, Get in Da Ark, Dan Pasquail) are quite excellent.

Garbage Pail Kids called and they want their gimmick back.

Because they have to return it to Wacky Packages?

But yeah, the juvenility is part of its charm.

Totally agree. I love the half-baked quality.

Get in Da Ark

That was friggin' hilarious.

How'd I miss this the other day? This is great.
