Bochy chews out Burriss for lack of hustle

But you have to believe that Emmanuel Burriss is not long for this roster.

The switch-hitter did himself another disservice Tuesday when he didn’t run out a popup that Brewers catcher Jonathan Lucroy caught in fair territory in the second inning. Cameras caught Giants manager Bruce Bochy chewing out Burriss something fierce.

“Yeah, I did,” Bochy said. “He’s better than that, and that’s what I told him. There’s no excuse for that, especially with his strength being speed.”

Bochy said he would’ve taken Burriss out of the game, but it would’ve left the Giants without a backup infielder and “I couldn’t take him out and punish Matt (Cain). We’ve got to be smarter than that.”
