1. Moloka'i Three-Finger Brown (Declino DeShields) Posted: April 26, 2009 at 12:56 PM (#3153096)I can see his point. Losing a ball in the sun during a very sunny part of the day while your sun glasses are propped up on your forehead really requires little if no explanation.
I don't think you can say he "cost his team another game" with one play, in a game they lost 8-2.
I'm not quite sure that that's true. One play can impact what happens after, especially in terms of pitcher usage, that saying something one way or another doesn't quite work.
Cabrera needs everything to go exactly right behind him. The second something like that happens, you can practically see him pulling outside himself. Instead of pitching, he's thinking about pitching and thinking about what happens when he does it. All of a sudden, he's wondering where his elbow is in relation to his ear when he cocks his arm back, and all hell breaks loose.
Dukes makes that play, who knows what happens. Cabrera wasn't sharp, but the defense getting into his head sure didn't help.
