Boston Herald: Lottery sees Green in Monster tix

The Boston Red Sox [team stats] are swinging for the Green Monster with the launch of another Massachusetts State Lottery instant ticket.

“Monster Money,” the new $10 Boston Red Sox scratch ticket, debuted yesterday at 7,500 Lottery agents across the state.

The game offers three $3 million instant prizes and seven prizes of $1 million. Other prizes include Red Sox gear such as jackets, pants, warm-up jerseys and duffel bags.

... Sales of the new ticket are expected to surpass $120 million, with $96.8 million in prizes and $14 million in local aid to cities and towns, according to state Treasurer Timothy Cahill.

The Lottery’s partnership with the Sox has generated $705 million worth of sales, which has meant nearly $100 million in local aid for cities and towns - the most important thing the Lottery does, Cahill added.

... “The Lottery and the Sox are two of the best brands that we know in this part of the world,” said Red Sox President/CEO Larry Lucchino. “We know its a win-win for us, the Lottery and the people of the commonwealth as the money generated goes to local aid.”

Lotteries are far more immoral than sports betting.

What the #### happened to the other 10 million?

EDIT: I see that the club has already profited $10M from this licensing deal in the past, so maybe that's where it goes. Well, then.

It's a good thing the money doesn't come from local people!

The guy in front of me at the ####### convenience store taking 5 minutes to buy $20 worth of tickets is really high up on my list of reasons.

Yes, I love it when sports and gambling intertwine with a bit of local government thrown into the mix. It smells like victory for all!

Mr. Lucchino seems to be affirming that in that world of 'Free Markets' and that world of 'goods and services' the tix are just another product in the marketplace-- it's disposable income-- goes the old saw
The data demonstrates otherwise and lines up with Shyster's regressive notion
'Predatory' may not be the reach it seems at first
I'm reminded of Marchman's use of the 'Swells' here
