I understand that Whitey didn't answer the phone, either.

That's OK - Larry Bowa will take it!

Walt Weiss interviewed for the Rockies job. He's now the head baseball coach at a Denver-area high school. This seems like the kind of thing the Rockies would do.

I think Mike Redmond is more likely than Bowa. Bowa will probably want to be paid.

Weiss managed his son last year, so that falls under the general rubric of "spending more time with family." Which doesn't necessarily make him qualified to manage an MLB team. He worked in the FO before this year, so maybe O'Dowd already decided he liked him.

Will Loria have to overpay a la Jayson Werth just to get somebody to come manage in Miami???

I'm sure he could find someone who would be happy to take the job. Terry Bevington, for example. Bruce Kimm is available. Dave Jauss. Marc Bombard.

Tim Johnson is tanned, rested, and ready to regale the Marlins with tales of his recent service with Seal Team 6.

I always thought Don Wakamatsu deserved another chance. He got caught in Griffey politics in Seattle, not to mention the quality of the roster.

Luis Gonzalez is also a candidate. Link

Is Ausmus a candidate in Toronto?
