Breaking Down Phillies Prospect Carlos Carrasco

Scouting Carlos Carrasco…

He has the potential to have two plus pitches and another above average offering. But much work needs to be done. Let him develop his pitches, continue to tweak his mechanics, and don’t rush him before he is ready.

The most realistic scenario for Carrasco is as a #3/4 starter, but the capability to breakout in a big way is still a possibility.

He got off to a good start last night:

5 IP, 3 H, 2 BB, 7 Ks

I'm very excited to see Carrasco at the MLB level. Maybe we'll see him as a September call up.

Personally, I kinda hope he doesn't appear in 2008. He definitely struggled a bunch last season, and I'd rather the Phils not rush him. Of course, if he spends the season killed guys in AA, a cup of coffee appearance in September might be warranted.
