Brew Beat: [Livan] Hernandez, [Cesar] Izturis added to active roster

Team #9 (10 if you count Washington twice, 11 if you count Montreal as being distinct from Washington.)

Bill Hall, the onetime Milwaukee utility man, spilled the beans Friday that veteran right-hander Livan Hernandez was set to sign with the Brewers in Chicago, where the team was ready to begin an Interleague Series against the White Sox. Hall ran into Hernandez at the airport.

Hernandez, a 37-year-old, 17-year Major League veteran, will join the Brewers’ bullpen.

Forget about the death of the newspaper, Bill Hall is going to put sportswriters out of business with these scoops.

Well, he's probably better than Mike McClendon.

I hope.

Oh, man... what an uninspiring pair of players to add to your team in 2012. If somebody wanted to make a joke about the Brewers having a shitty season, they could've just made up that headline.

The final pieces of the puzzle!

This will be Livan's 10th team, counting the Expos and Nationals as different teams. And he's only 37, or possibly 43, years old!

His real name is Leo Nuñez.

I don't care what anybody says, I like Livan. That said, he's a bit easier to like when he's not on a team you care about that much.

So the Brewers have given up on the season?

Does it matter at this point? He can be the whole shitty back half of the bullpen by himself. The shitty front half of the bullpen is still fucked, though.

If we need a veteran, let's get a real one: Moyer.

They already have about 7 fantasy campers on the roster as is, these guys are around simply to show those campers the ropes.

Moyer might actually be available. He's made three starts for the Orioles AAA team and has an opt out if they don't promote him now.

The orioles are trying to convince him to make one more start down there (Gotta give Tommy Hunter one more chance not to suck, I guess?)

He's pitched quite well in his three starts: 16 Ks in 16 IP, no BB, 1.69 ERA.
