Brewers’ Aoki Disrespected By Rookie Of The Year Voters

Hey, when the Door County Daily News comes down on you…you know something’s up!

Coming off a remarkable rookie campaign in Major League Baseball, Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Norichika Aoki finished fifth in National League Rookie of the Year balloting on Monday. The award, as voted on by the Baseball Writers’ Association of America, was won by Nationals outfielder Bryce Harper.

...Aoki batted .288, led NL rookies in stolen bases (30) and tied for the NL rookie lead in hits (150). Aoki ranked second in runs (81), doubles (37), total bases (225) and on-base percentage (.355) and became the first NL rookie since the Cardinals’ Bake McBride (1974) to have four hitting streaks of at least 10 games in a season. Aoki had streaks of 15, 13, 12 and 10 games.

this qualifies as an article? 3 short paragraphs from a tiny publication read by 200 people in a given week?

When the fall foliage season comes to an end, combined with a Packers bye week last week, you've got to fill the pages with something.

I hate the modern use of the word "Disrepected".

Those straws have to be grasped at.

#3 - A-friggin-MEN!

Respect is earned, not given away like ad flyers on a street corner. Unfortunately, current colloquial usage attempts to make it mean "I didn't get my way--wahhhhh!" This dilutes it when it's used properly to communicate a much bigger, more important concept.

Aoki: I am disrespectful to pitchers! Can you see I am serious? Get out of my way - all of you! This is no place for loafers! Join me or die - can you do any less?

He also led all rookies in consonant efficiency.

Aoki had a very nice season, but it was a strong rookie class this year, and somebody had to be fifth.

As I understand the rules, I am now forced to physically harm someone dear to you. Unfortunate.

Anything that brings up the legend of Bake McBride is worth grasping at.

I for one am glad this article was posted, as I had no idea that this guy existed, let alone that he had an excellent season, until now.

A story that riveted the nation's attention. Decades from now, grandchildren will ask their elders, "Where were you when Norichika Aoki tied Bake McBride's record of four hitting streaks of at least ten games by a National League rookie?"

Well played, unless you were in serious, in which case we link to Murray Chass so why not?

Of all the days I've spent in Door County, I don't think I ever noticed the "DCDN". The amount of ads on that page is staggering.

The amount of ads on that page is staggering.

I followed the ad link to "Wisconsin Dairy News" hoping for some snark worthy content, and was shocked to find a blank page. No dairy news in Wisconsin? Seems disrespectful, to say the least.

C'mon guys, that was awesome! Would any of you have thought of that? No way. And does the DCDN pay a subscription to Stats, Inc or did the reporter do the legwork here? Or are the Brewers pimping this? Doesn't matter, this is a thing of sheer beauty. Now one of you get off your lazy butt and find the NL and AL record holders.

You can make a case for Aoki over Frazier.

I don't have a problem with that one. Offering Torii Hunter a contract Delmon Young would laugh at is, in fact, disrespectful. It is an overt act (where doing nothing would be perfectly acceptable) expressing the lack of value they place on his services. Might as well offer him an NRI and the locker next to Jeff Kent.

Not even a distant cousin to simply voting for someone else.

Nobody will ever forget the mockery Benito Santiago was subjected to in 1987 when he had three 10-game hitting streaks and then came up six games short of his fourth one. Some people blamed the end of the season. Others blamed Bake McBride's ghost.
